Sack Race 2010
With the Championship in full swing who do we think will be the first manager to "vacate" his post?
Will Damian Cassidy win the Sack Race or will it be Liam Sheedy? Will it be someone else altogether in you view?
I fear that it will be Damian Cassidy should Derry get knocked out early in the qualifiers, however i hope not!

I would agree with RM here
Its his second year so anything short of a quarter final spot will probabaly mean curtains, so he needs four wins on the trot as anything else signifies "rearward momentum"
Certainly defeat in the first or second round will mean an early exit for John Joe
Especially with McGuinness's progress with the U-21.
If Kildare hit the skids in the qualifiers McGeeney could also be in the spotlight

Jaysus lads ye wouldn't get a QF spot in Ulster!
Agree re McGeeney too - it appears Grimley was the brains behind this operation as some posters here have often said! If we get beaten by 12 points by Wexford I'd say Giller will be hanging ....

I heard he was disgusted at the attacking and imaginative football that Monaghan played ....

Re: Sack Race 2010
McGeeney won't get sacked. He is in his last year of his contract. If they go out he will resign. And yes Grimley is the mastermind and the bad thing about it is I dont think he will ever be Armagh manager.
Id say if Armagh get hammered by a team in the qualifiers POR will be on the edge, it just depends on who has the balls to push him off it. I know there is this nonsense about its only his first year etc etc, but we all did the same thing with McDonnell, and wasted 3 years, its not acceptable to make the same mistakes again. Also, it isnt as if POR has made any difference in my opinion anyway.
However, at the moment I would say that John Joe will be the first manager this year to be sacked. It all depends on the qualifiers.

Oh, controversial opinion there GF, personally i think he's added character to Armagh this year and the freak result to Monaghan aside i'd say his opening tenure has been pretty good. He's secured promotion back to the top tier in the league whilst winning some silverware too. Very harsh to say you expect him to get the boot.

I am still giving him my backing, but im sure most Armagh fans would have been happy staying in division 2 rather than getting hammered by Down who Armagh hadn't lost a single game to in 15 years. Then we get hammered again on Sunday. This points out a serious weakness in the Armagh team, get a man sent off and the game is won.
Armagh played a very dull game against Derry yet I feel they should have pressed on for more scores. McDonnell is the only player up front that is playing. Same old story as it was with Peter Mc.
Then again what is another Ulster title to an Armagh fan?
I hope POR proves me wrong.
Re: Sack Race 2010
i'd say Malachy O' Rourke could be a strong contender for this especially if Fermanagh get turned over on Sunday - though i still expect Neil Lennon to beat anyone of them!!!!

Boxtyeater is pinning his dwindling hopes on Roscommon's (I even hate typing the word by now) Fergal O'Donnell heading the evacuees in this noble event.
Defeat to an already severely depleted and demoralised Leitrim would have the followers of the Sheepstealers baying for blood and the recall of Frankie Dolan (Again).....
If you hear me God, let it be Fergal.....

Re: Sack Race 2010
I think things will become a little clearer after the draw is made on Sunday. If for example Derry, Mayo, Kildare, Armagh, Donegal or Meath are drawn against each other then you would have to fear for the immediate future managerial careers of the likes of Cassidy, Doherty, McGeeney and possibly even O'Mahoney. If I was to choose the first to go it would probably be Cassidy but he may be saved by a handy enough away fixture to the likes of Carlow or Antrim.

After last weekend's shock results nothing can be ruled out at this stage Jayo. I expect your lads to beat Wexford but the Laois/Meath game is a little bit harder to call. The Meath full back line wouldn't be all that great and Laois could possibly cause an upset if a few of their forwards hit form and they limit the fouls conceded in the Meath scoring zone to quell Cian Ward's influence on the game. A Meath V Derry first round qualifier would be very tasty!

Re: Sack Race 2010
Clancy is playing Full Forward for us !!
Anyway in the sack race, O mahony will go if Mayo arnt in an All - Ireland semi
Mc Geeney will be gone if he isnt in an all ireland quarter final, that might not be enough
Counihan will quite if cork dont win the all-ireland
O Connor will be sacked if Kerry dont get to a semi Final
Mc Eneeney has to deliver an Ulster Title or its good bye to him too unless they get an all ireland semi in,
Cassidy in trouble if fermanagh are turned over by cavan
same for the Cavan manager (lost his name there)
Jason Ryan is resigning at the end of this season, unless they win a leinster or get to an all ireland quarter
Dubs need a leinster and all ireland semi final
Many jobs are in trouble in the football but my bet is on O Mahony !!

Aye - jump before you're pushed GF!
Must be a long time since Mayo were not playing football in July all the same.
