Melbourne Cup 2009 - Race That Stops A Nation
4.00am Tuesday! Alarms clocks set? Not the usual international representation that were used to but still a mega-puzzle to solve as 24 runners line up for Australia's racing showpiece at Flemington. Amongst them last year's winner Viewed, a Caulfield Cup winner in Master O'Reilly, former Aidan O'Brien trained Changingoftheguard and Godolphin's Crime Scene. Potentially, there's a lot of fairytale winners in there too! Obviously in a race like this, a reasonable case can be made for a lot of the runners but creeping in at the bottom of the handicap is the mare, Leica Ding, something of an unknown quantity even in Australia. She won the Geelong Cup from a wide draw beating three of Tuesday's rivals in the process but this time she's drew barrier two and is sure to take up a handy position in the run to the first bend. At 20/1, she's certainly worth a bet. |

Grand so. Be sure and give me a wake up call there loyal. Havn't been paying as much attention to it this year probably cos of the lack of involvement of any Irish interest but wouldn't wanna miss such a great race all the same. Might have a small interest on your tip for the craic.

Won't see more exciting sport anywhere in the world than that!
Epic race. Best horse won, ran without cover all the way and Corey Brown sent him on at the right time. And he just stayed all the way to the line.

Crime Scene did everything right in fairness. Looked like the winner had his name on it though somehow. Great finish though to a great race. That pace-maker could teach Coolmore a thing or two. Watched it on Justin TV. Flawless coverage in fairness

Great race in fairness. With 3 furlongs to go there was 7 in a line. 1 furlong left and there was only 2 with Shocking just about starting to exert his dominance after a great ride round the outside.

I might, when recollection and anecdotes are recalled, be able to post a brief resume of weekend events.
Tis' fair to say that Boxtyeater was ball-hopped big time by Family, clubmen, forgotten foes and assorted other gits.
A 3rd.geeration squawkbox is now up for the day I'dsay..

Im sure what Boxty is saying has some relevance to the Melbourne Cup somehow somewhere.
