Real Kerry Fan wrote:Just to let you Dubs know that I will be greeting Sam today at my place of employment. Will be doing a thorough check on the status of the trophy. When you give a loan of a equipment etc to a neighbour you expect to get it back in the same condition. Expected around lunchtime but rumour has it that Cluxton is delivering so that could be around 4 or 5 pm.
Just make sure you don't put it in the lucky bag you are packing at that time .....

Well Sam came and was in pristine condition. Discussed it with Rory O'Carroll and sure enough it was obvious why, it has spent most of its time in the southside

Re: Dublin GG News
What All-Ireland starters will be struggling to hold onto their jerseys for their forthcoming season?
I think the back-line could face a reshuffle. Ger Brennan, James McCarthy and Cian O'Sullivan will do well to hold onto their jerseys, while there's a lot of options in midfield with Bastick far from certain to still be partnering McAuley come June. Up front, Dean Rock may come in for Barry Cahill but don't see any changes elsewhere. Cullen/Flynn should be safe enough unless suffering a dip in form.

Not sure really. McCarthy will be a more experienced player and hopefully better for it. I expect Cian O'Sullivan to be there if he stays injury free. Brennan's red mist still concerns me - could have cost us Sam. Sean Murray too was almost an ever present in the league and saw no C'ship time - so hard to know where he will stand this year. Midfield seems to be a 3/4 man job.
Cahill will still be there - was super in club c'ship. Cullen may not be a starter and Connolly needs to show some League form or may be gone.
I expect Gilroy will try a fair few players in the League.

Wouldn't disagree with any of that. Barring injuries, you'd imagine at least 12 of last year's 15 will start the championship. Cian O'Sullivan is an outstanding athlete and a very good footballer, and I'd be very surprised if he doesn't improve further in 2012.

Is that the fella played under Tommy Carr? Showed a lot of promise in various central positions, but was ruined with injuries?

Yeah, I remember Carr once saying that if he had 5 Ian Robertsons, he'd play them right down the middle. He was a good footballer.

Yeah Robertson was a good player with an eye for goal but very unlucky with injuries. Has been involved in coaching with his club Ballymun Kickhams.

Re: Dublin GG News
Promising stuff from Dublin. O'Gara showing a bit more and if Connolly can keep consistent then the Brogans have real support. A lot of peripheral figures and a couple of U21s seizing their chance. Obiously its very early but I think Dublin will be a better team this year than 2011. Whether thats good enough to win Sam is another matter.
Incidentally, the Armagh keeper should have seen red yesterday after Connolly got his second. He lunged two footed at him and caught him too - could have broken his legs. He knew the ball was in the net so was determined to lash Dermo out of it. A disgraceful challenge.

no worse than Connollys knee into the back of Kildare players head a few weeks back!!!!!
Also worth remembering that for the Armagh goal your full back lunged at the Armagh forward with his feet in an attempt to execute a foot block, could have been a nasty injury too had he connected

Don't see the point in digging up these old things - a bit like my Da is bigger that yours - and totally irrelevant to the Sunday incident. And saw nothing wrong in Armagh goal - nothing. The keeper was a disgrace for Connollys second - get a look and tell me he wasn't. A cheap, nasty challenge.

An appropriate expression from the guy in the sports coat, as he anticipates a crunching tackle and heavy sledging from Mr.Justice Alan Mahon later in the day....
Possibly in the incorrect thread but then sometimes the threads don't match up.....
Annoying issues probably the correct location.....

Re: Dublin GG News
Strong team out for the Dubs first defence of their titles. Like the look of the full forward line with Bernard, Diarmuid and Kevin Mc and with Alan at CHF pulling the strings. I think there is a real goal threat in this team. In previous years we started campaigns sluggishly but were good last year v Laois.
Louth struggled against Westmeath - needing an injury time goal to scrape a one point win and have not built on their near breakthrough of 2010. Hard to see anything but a comprehensive Dublin victory tbh.
