Carlow v Wicklow
So Thomas Walsh returns to the Carlow fold and will likely play this week ... against Wicklow!! Carlow also have Brendan Murphy in the middle - back after a stint at Aussie Rules. I'd imagine they will at least break even there. Could be a closer match than many think!

Re: Carlow v Wicklow
Interesting to see how the players cope with the new rules (rem the handpass rule is different from the league rule)
In the league you where only allowed use the fist, now you can use the open hand as long as there is an underhand action- wonder if this will suit a Micko team, Luke Dempsey would be an member of the short ball game too.
Look out for umpires too the will be using new signals as well.
On a side note if a ref turns up with his 4 umpires and one is wearing a baseball cap and the other 3 aren't He will be deducted points by his assessor, rather than concentrating on the rules of the game

Jim what are the new umpire signals? It will be interesting to see how Wicklow fair out this year.. Will second season syndrome play it's part or will the Micko factor cancel that out.. I think it just might..

Jonsmith - on the 30th minute you may notice the umpire raising two fingers towards the dugout. This signifies he wants two sugars in his tea at half time.

this is the game im looking forward to the most this weekend.wont be the highest standard of football, but will be interesting none-the-less.tom walshe will know the ins and outs of this wiclow team.the carlow midfield is miles ahead of the rest of the team,it's probably in the top 10 midfields in the country.a tenner says carlow will win.

Re: Carlow v Wicklow
Hopefully Dempsey's men can win, the big additions of Murphy and Walsh might side it to the (Monté) Carlow men. League form means nothing as we know, but the performances of the Carlow under 21s should not be ignored. A team that is only beaten by a dodgy, extra time refereeing decision against the eventual All Ireland champs means there is significant talent coming through, some of who will be featuring on Sunday. Furthermore, Wicklow outside fortress Aughrim may be possibly be akin to Samson without his hair.
Carlow to win by a whisker!

Re: Carlow v Wicklow
When I saw there were 3 red cards and 14 yellows in this game I thought they were talking about the Armagh v Derry game! It was by no means a dirty game but O'Cniomha/Kinneavy/Rossie sheep-stealer is very finicky.
Wicklow will probably do well this year. A leinster final appearance is not beyond them and will be greeted with scenes not too unlike when Dublin qualified for the leinster hurling final last year.
If Carlow get a kind draw in the qualifiers they could go on a little run - Dempsey has been down this path many times before.
