Who will win?
Down V Wicklow
I fancy Wicklow for this one if they can keep Benny Coulter quiet and they have the defenders capable of it.
Im not saying this as a hateful antrim fan but more one who has watched and league and tommy murphy rivilary go on between our two counties over the last two years. If we have the talent to make the last 12 then so to does wicklow.
I genuinely believe that come this stage of the qualifiers mind set and tactics are very important and Mick O Dwyer definitely has both and his teams reflect that, Ross Carr may just see his young intercounty career put to an end this week by the greatest football manager the game has ever seen.

Re: Down V Wicklow
Would go along with that as well.
wicklow/ Antrim etc have been tipping along nicely these last few years.
Never thought I would say these but Sean Kelly did one good thing all right - the introduction of the Tommy Murphy cup Antrim and Wicklow where the only ones who took it seriously for the last few years and look at the progress both sides are making.
success does bred success.

Re: Down V Wicklow
i have to say i fancy Wicklow myself - i dont rate Carr as a manager at all, Down have made very little headway under him and i think the end is near for him. O' Dwyer has too much experience to be caught out by the likes to Ross and his team are playing well unlike Down who are at best stuttering through the championship
Great to see the likes of Wicklow and Antrim getting the reward for the work the put into the Tommy Murphy it is most definitely paying dividends now for them - lets hope other counties recognise this and follow suit.

I really don't know why, and I've nothing to base this on, but I've a sneaky feeling for Down. I'd love Wicklow to win though, would be fantastic to see them progress even further.
Is that eejit Aiden Carr back yet or what's the story with him?

Did he? Nice one! Didn't even check through my scores for last week but didn't realise he was playing. Just seen in the paper he didn't start so left it at that! Hopefully him and Glynn score the bulk of the scores in a goalless game!

Weel I wouldn't say that but I hate this crap of deifying him. Have heard a lot of stories of recompense which would not endear. To me he is the epitomy of the cute Kerry hoor. And I reckon my late mother would have won 3 or 4 All Irelands with the team he had.

Yes. We lost playing decent football and lost playing dire football.
Re: Down V Wicklow
Well done Wicklow! I honestly thought Down would be a step too far but how wrong I was.
It will be interesting to see who they get next weekend, will it be Kerry-man led Limerick? Or will it be is old stomping ground of Kildare? If Antrim lose they could be heading for another tussle with their Tommy Murphy Cup rivals.
Either way, unless they get the losers of Connaught, any of the other 3 possibilities would have an extra edge to them.
On another note, after today, there will be only 3 Ulster teams left in the championship!

Re: Down V Wicklow
I said it last year. Antrim beat Wicklow in the Tommy Murphy final.
Wicklow beat Kildare, who lost narrowly to Cork, who drew with Kerry, thrashed them this year, Wicklow now beat Down, who beat Tyrone last year.........
Is there much point Tyrone turning up tomorrow?
Antrim and Wicklow have benefited greatly from the TM cup.
The GAA has now dropped it. Pure genius.

Wicklow are picking off the weaker Ulster teams while all the other Ulster teams are taking each other out. And they say it isnt a fix

Fermanagh - last year's finalists - weak? Down - beat Tyrone last year - weak? Cavan - agreed - weak!
Donegal got home games against Carlow and Clare (fix) beat them both stutteringly and then drew Ulster's second best team - and beat them.
No conspiracy theories at all - proof of what I have said all along Tyrone are streets ahead of anyone in Ulster (sorry P Antrim too). Ulster football is not in good shape.
