Katie Walsh/Nina Carberry
I watched a replay of the Late Late last night.
They are the spit of their brothers, Ruby and Paul. Katie was blessed with luck to get her wins last week, she wouldn't be as good as Nina. Although I wouldn't take anything away from what she did, she still had to win the Four Miler and the County last week. I like her anyway. Nina's a very good jockey, better than a lot of males. They had a right to get Walsh and Carberry, the pros, on as well. Poor old Paul is nearing the end, the greatest jump jockey of his generation. Or to make an analogy, the Maurice Fitz of jockeys.
I wonder will we start to see many female jump jockeys in the future? Certainly on the flat, there are plenty making names for themselves but even Katie and Nina, probably the two best jumps females, are only amateurs.

I though Nina was professional since she doesn't claim anymore or does she still claim 3?

She's an amateur.
Three types of jockeys:
1. Amateurs
2. Conditionals/Aprentices (Semi-Professionals)
3. Professionals

So if she wins she can't claim her % of the winnings?

Technically she won't get anything. Whatever she does get, well the Revenue won't see any of it!
There's a lot of rules and regulations. And many iniatives for amateur riders too. Lots of good ones in Ireland; Nina Carberry and Katie Walsh but also Patrick Mullins (champion amateur), Robbie McNamara, Matt "Strawberry" O'Connor, Andrew Duff, Jamie Codd, Derek O'Connor and Colm Motherway. Female riders really struggle for rides over the jumps, Nina is 36-138, Katie is 12-86, and then the next best is Pauline Ryan (3-27). After that five others have one win each. Only really Nina and Katie who have made any sort of meaningful mark on jumps racing.
