Bernard Hopkins
Anyone hear the interview on off the ball this evening.
Owen asked him a one line question and he gave a 12 minute answer
Fascinating stuff he covered philosophy, the 88 seoul olympics and Jones's dubious silver medal , His and Roy Jones respective careers, Two proffessors of the ring, Who had the bigger ego, Sportsmens Ego and swagger - Lebron and Koby,ALI, Why Owen and the other 90% of the population had no ego because they wouldn't put things on the line etc etc etc.
A true legend

B-Hop is such a brilliant guest any time OTB have him on. I missed it this evening though. It will be on the playback or podcast soon hopefully.
He didn't happen to slip out any false accusations in typical Newstalk fashion by any chance?

Re: Bernard Hopkins
Definitely one of the greatest boxers of his era, one for the purists. He beat the seemingly "great" Joe Calzaghe only to be given a stinker of a decision. |That aside, his achievements at middleweight for ten years were immense. Its a pity his rematch with Roy Jones didn't happen when they were both in their primes.
A great character as well, his interviews are always interesting. He is surprisingly knowledgeable and articulate, and is always good value. Never good at admitting defeat though... Pay attention to 0:47 below...

A very good fighter indeed, but I think that a rematch with Jones would have been as one-sided as the first fight was. Jones in the mid 90s was untouchable at middle or super-middleweight.
