Stupid sports phrases
I think Sami or someone posted about a phrase they hated which was world class. I have lots of them. Glorious defeat, moral victory etc. Take for example this week where I read the two Irish women bobsleighers were doing well in 20th place after 2 out of 4 runs. Doing well? There was only 21 competitors. They finished a 'creditable' 17th. 17 out of 21 is creditable? Since when. The only reason they even finished that high was that 2 teams crashed. What is it about us Irish that we accept and even celebrate mediocrity?

Serious lack of respect displayed in the above post towards the national womens two man bobsleigh team!

Shame on you KK. Those women represented our country with pride.
A soccer one I hate is "man on". A lad I play astroturf with uses it constantly and it wrecks my head.

It wasn't me Kerry
nothing wrong with 'man on' RMD as well as 'time' it's the most useful thing anyone can say to you whilst playing soccer.
I hate the way pundits always sum up a game with "at the end of the day it was a victory for football." No, it was a victory for the team that won. Pillocks.

That's one for little kids AM, another one like that is in that foreign game of cricket, when someone would drop a really simple catch the coaches used to shout "GOOD 'STOP'!" used to wind me up big time!
