Would like to see the Dubs win a bit of silverware. Either way we are currently the best team in Leinster ...........

I wish they stayed there as well (voted that way along with most of the then Wexford county board). Under section XXX subsection XXX-X part 3 paragraph (c) in the GAA geography book belonging to a certain Nicholas Brennan they are in LeinsterJayo Cluxton wrote:JimWexford wrote:Joint best team as yourselves and Galway have to battle it out to see who is the best team in "the new Leinster"

Aye Jim but thats democracy. You can't win every vote but at least you got them to open up Croker for soccer and rugby though...

Surely the Portumna - Dunloy should be the curtain raiser before the mighty Dubs?

Re: World Cup Final
Dublin walloped Galway in the league last year and maintained their form throughout the year. Can see them winning this on Sunday as well. Might be worth the trip to Donnycarney nonetheless to run the rule of thumb over our overall squad outlook for the year. Niall Healy's slot in the corner is deifinitly up for grabs with Gantly in such good form and young Ritchy Cummins coming through. Bit too soon for Cummins but he should make an appearance at some point on Sunday and is an exciting prospect for the future. Tannion looks like being groomed for the centre forward position this year. Donnellan for all his talent lacks the physical for that position, he's likely to start on the wing however while Smiths busy off with Port winning Tommy Moore cups.
Cahalan has been tried at MF alongside Farragher in this with Hynes at wing back. This is an area Mcyntire has to settle asap, his rant after the Offaly game was predictable enough but he conveniently forgot to mention his own culpability in Offalys late comeback with all his late changes amd switches.
Tony Ogs good form has surprised many but surely to fook he's only 'filling in' and won't be seen nor heard of come June. Surely!? ta fook!? Clash!?? New lads Holland and Barry have shown a bit of dash but been racing a bit green as well, to be expected and shur giving them the run out is what Walsh cups are all about really.
At this stage only Farragher, Gantley, Kavanagh and maybe Callanan could be reasonably confident of making the 1st team once the Portumna lads are back.
Anthony Daly will see this as a great opportunity for Dublin to win some silverware and perhaps their only realistic opportunity of doing so this year and will have drilled this into his team so no surprise to see Dublin pick this up on Sunday.

I'm guessing he is only filling in for John Lee I'd say. Good to see new players given a chance. Richie Murray quitting the panel for business reasons was a big loss as he seemed to be back to his best. I'd say Galway could struggle without the Portumna lads and it should be a good test for them against Dublin and one they are capable of winning.

Re: World Cup Final
Ritchy's best fell a bit short I always thought myself, never really built on the potential shown back in 01 when he bullied KK off the park. Still deserved to go out better than his cameo performance in Tullamore last year.

They'd be no need to check the Atlas's lads if only the like of Wexico and Fingal could have made even a half decent contest of Leinster in the first place

Re: World Cup Final
Dublin are so good at hurling these days that they have two teams, one playing the Walsh Final on Sunday and the other playing Tipp in a challenge on Sat night.
Dublin (Walsh Cup final v Galway) - Gary Maguire; Seán O'Sullivan,
Niall Corcoran, Ruairà Trainor; Stephen Hiney, Ronan Fallon, Maurice
OBrien; Johnny McCaffrey, Simon Lambert; David Curtin, Shane Ryan, John
Kelly; Peadar Carton, Kevin Flynn, Alan McCrabbe.
Subs - Alan
Nolan, Colm Hennebry, Dave Byrne, Michael Carton, Derek O'Reilly, Ger
O'Meara, Shane Durkin, Michael May, Aodhán McEnerney, Kevin O'Loughlin,
Ronan Walsh.
Dublin (Senior challenge v Tipperary) - Finn
McGarry; Tomás Brady, Colm Hennebry, OisÃn Gough; Dave Byrne, Michael
Carton, Derek O'Reilly; Michael May, Joseph Boland; Peter Kelly, Liam
Rushe, Shane Durkin; David O'Callaghan, David Treacy, Paul Ryan.
Was thinking Dubs might beat us in Parnell but with the likes of Brady, Rushe and Dotsy playing on the Saturday you'd have to fancy Galway

Re: World Cup Final
Jim - I presume you are up for the Leinster county here? Gas to think that as well as having to let them in to the Leinster C'ship they had to get into the Walsh now too.
If (when) Portumna win the club I think we can hail it as a Leinster victory!

I will be cheering on the winning Leinster county.
A bit unfair that we might have two Leinster teams in the AI Senior club champ final and who said hurling was in trouble in Leinster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

True Jim.
I think we should just re-route the Shannon altogether. We can do it cleverly and leave places like Ballinasloe and Ahascragh on the other side....

In conjunction with this soccerball fest, why don't we hold a sort of referendum amongst ourselves, to quantify whom, from the qualified nations, is the most repugnent person living or dead, that these mucksavages have produced....
Oh! I love contests, but the climax of the soccerball/fest could be swamped by the GAATipster International Gobshite poll...
Kushdie.....

they're playing a different team against Tipp because a lot of the players are cup-tied after playing for their universities in the Walsh Cup.
