Cap on Kerry men
This site is in danger of being overrun with Kerry folk. I propose a cap of 4 overall and only one at a time ...

Re: Cap on Kerry men
Ho, they swing up from Dingle, and in past Lixnaw
Over the mountains from proud Iveragh
Just mark how they rally from gallant Tralee
In charmin Killarney to muster with glee.
Hurray for the Crokes though the Mitchels are here
Give Rangers, O'Connells and Dingle the cheer
God bless them and weld them success to the team
That has raised the old game to its place of esteem.

Mossbags that's class where did you find that? The newpaper bit, not the picture of His Holiness.
As for you Jayo, there's no fear of being overrun with Kerrymen. There's a pretty deadly gaa forum for Kerry fans, kerrygaa.ie, so that's why there wouldn't be many on other fora.
My previous forum should have had a cap on Tyrone fans if anything - theres billions of them on the thing. They multiply like rabbits!

<blockquote>You asked what's the secret of Kerry and often I wished that I knew
T'will doubtless seem odd, though born on the sod, that question has puzzled me too.
You see the lad work in the meadow as he tosses the hay without rest
And longs for the lengthening shadow as the sun slowly moves towards the West.
Then he'll hark to the thud of a football and things more important must yield
For nothing must stay in a Kerry lad's way when the ball bounces high on the field.
A thirst that he has for tradition, a rendezvous with his grand sires
Who planted the sin of omission that drives and demands and inspires.
He knows he must strive to be worthy of heroes of whom he looks back
He knows he must merit the right to inherit the virtues of Gorman and Stack.
No wealth does a Kerry lad envy but give him a broad field of green
And a ball that in flight must commune at its height with the spirit of Kirwan and Breen.
Fitzgerald, Costello and Dillon, McCarthy and so many more
No page can contain the hallowed domain of Kerry's vast legions of yore.
When a Kerryman stands on a mountain and looks towards the wild rolling seas
He is ranging his eyes on the broad vast horizon emblazoned by stars just like these.
Their passing beyond has befit him and no Kerryman needs to be told
That a legacy grand they have left him that's fashioned of green and of gold.
He honours the gift that is hallowed as honoured twas by his forebearers
And he knows that each move must be destined to prove that he is fit for the colour he wears.
Tis a Kerryman's clear understanding that when those colours too he is true
He is wearing a mantle demanding the best that a mortal can do.
You asked what's the secret of Kerry and I've tried to answer your call
But things I have told are so true and so old
That they aren't a secret at all

Galway is the only other county in Ireland that can win All-Irelands by playing beautiful football.

Mossbags I've seen the second poem in a book only published this year about Kerry football - I haven't seen that first one before though. Nor the picture.

Great to have another Kerry man aboard. And a rejuvenated Real Kerry Fan. Where did you get your name 3inarow08? Are you a Kerry or Kilkenny man? Welcome anyway. Good to have increased representation here. Only right that the Kings of Football are the Kings of GaaTipster!!

I'm a Kerry man - an optimistic and over-enthusiastic one!
Registered with a different forum with this username in the Summer of 2008, just after the Galvingate affair in the Clare game. Decided it'd be fun to wind up a few people with my username. Then the AI Final that year came along.
Egg. On. Face.
So when I found this site late last week I said I'd keep the same username, seeing that I recognised I lot of other posters and their usernames.
Everyone calls me Triona though (as in Triona Rowe/3inarow). Nice to meet you Katriona!
