Kerry
So are Meath and Mayo wasting their time turning up for the Kerry game? Are the Sligo, Longford and Antrim games to be forgotten about and ignored?
To be honest, I still think Kerry have their problems. Dublin really did go to pieces yesterday. Alright, Kerry raised their game and they did in a way look back to their best but they aren't completely flawless.
Just because Kerry took Dublin apart like they did yesterday, does it mean Meath and Mayo haven't a chance against them? Surely it will be hard for Kerry to repeat that performance again. Or is that Meath and Mayo are incredibly poor?

Re: Kerry
Think either Meath or Mayo will struggle in a big way to actually win the game. Mayo for obvious reasons ( they s**t themselves when they have to play Kerry). I think Meath will give Kerry a much better game, beating them may be a step too far, but Meath being Meath wont be afraid of Kerry. They will go out and get stuck in, i still think kerry will beat them (if they meet), but it wont be as easy as yesterdays match or a Kerry v Mayo game.

Re: Kerry
I'd go along with that. I'd rather see Meath play Kerry as they'd really get stuck in and make a game of it. Mayo may well do the same but they do have that complex of playing Kerry and given recent meetings and Kerry's destructive play yesterday, they'd possibly be beaten before they even take to the field unless they've found some belief. Again, I don't think they'd win realistically, but it would be an interesting match-up and Meath would have a good go at it, maybe better than Mayo despite not being as good a team all round. Kerry would win out in the end though.
However I'm not sure if Meath can go on and beat Mayo, I had visions of them in the semi-final after the draw was made but they didn't look all that convincing against Limerick. There's probably an improvement there for this game, but I wonder will it be big enough to beat Mayo this weekend.

Re: Kerry
there is no complex in Mayo about playing Kerry. i can guarantee you that every Mayo supporter across the globe is chomping at the bit to get at Kerry in the semi's if we beat Meath. just because we lost heavily to them in years gone by does not mean anything. Dublin havnt beaten Kerry since '77 and people were not talking about an inferiority complex between Dublin and Kerry.
This Mayo team is playing with belief, some of them have u21 All-Ireland medals, almost all of them have played in an all-ireland final at some grade so the only difference between Kerry & Mayo is the number of senior medals that the players have in their pockets. the likes of O'Shea, Cafferkey, O'Malley grew up playing and beating Kerry on the football field. there are no Mayo players with an inferiority or any other type of complex when it comes to Kerry.
You will see on August 30th, if it is Mayo vs Kerry, a completely different Mayo performance to the ones that they have produced in 2 of the last 3 Mayo-Kerry games(05 being the exception)
Anyways, was it not only a week ago that people on here and in the papers and radio were saying Kerry were finished, now after ONE good performance against an extremely poor DUblin team(Donegal's performance on sunday would have been enough to beat them) everyone is talking them up again as All-Ireland champions. i predicited that Kerry would beat Dublin because i believed that they had one big game in them this year, they have had that game and they will not produce a performance like that again.
Mayo have to get over the ghost of Kerry eventually and this is the year to do it. we'll banish the ghost of '96 next sunday and then banish the ghosts of '97, '04 and '06 on AUgust 30th.
ye can stop with yer tales of Meath having a better chance of putting it up to Kerry, i am giving a guarantee here and now that Mayo will puch Kerry the whole way in an all-ireland semi final and will come out on the other side with an all-ireland final ahead of them!

Re: Kerry
Mayo recently beat Kerry in a semi, so will not fear them, but having beaten the Dubs, and boosted their confidence, I expect Kerry to beat Meath or Mayo. I would have expected the same from the Dubs, even though I believe a full Mayo team are bette than the Dubs, The Mayo twin towers are a real threat.

Don't read too much into that Kerry win yesterday. They played a team that were worse (on the day) than any Div 4 team. Kerry will not win Sam - guaranteed - yesterday was their 'performance of the season' - unfortunately ....

They are now, sports psychologists and the likes. Bit of advice to Mayo, get them in now and dont be talking about them after the hiding.

Sadly for Dublin, I'd agree with that. Kerry worked ferociously on Monday, and they took their chances very well, but the space they were afforded was ridiculous.
Kerry have changed their style of play, and they looked more like the Kerry of 2004/5 than what we have seen in recent years. This was more out of necessity, given the loss of Donaghy, and the inability of Walsh to do the same job as Star. They are certainly hungry, and the fitness levels are there. Still, I look at the spine of their side and see Griffen, McCarthy, O'Se and Scanlon, and I don't believe a side that slow in the centre will be good enough to win the all-ireland. It's Tyrone or Cork for me.
