Who is the best sportsman in the world today?

Michael Vick might have a shout for greatest athlete, but I don't think he can ever be called a "sportsman." Ger Cavlan's lucky he doesn't live in America.
Northern Ireland - fine of £650, costs of £4,300 and a 5 year ban from owning certain types of dogs.
Same offence in the USA - 23 months in prison, separate 3 year suspended sentence, and over $1million paid over to pay for the care of dogs injured in the activities.......
You may incur the wrath of a forumite here. There is a similarity between the aforementioneds club and one of our colleagues user-name which suggests to me that they are clubmates

Not intended as a dig at Mr. Cavlan at all. More a comment on the disparity in the criminal justice systems in each country. Both men committed fairly similar offences, yet the punishments were vastly different.
Normally I think that the States tend to be a bit over the top on punishments, but in this case I think they got it spot on, and we're the ones lagging behind.
It's incomprehensible to me that Cavlan was still allowed to own a dog after the conviction.
