Re: Quarter Finals Draw
Its called deception. Joe is the fittest man in Meath. And when a corner back sees Joe trapsing over to him, he starts rubbing his hands with glee. But Joe has the last laugh.
If he's in on the edge of the square and the ball is given into him, he'll either catch it or break it to David Bray or Brian Farrell. He is well able to take a score himself.
The problem with Joe is that he hasn't a clue how to tackle. Brian Farrell and Cian Ward also struggle with the fundamentals of this as well.

Re: Quarter Finals Draw
Last Sunday the Antrim game restarted at 7 minutes to three, so I said it would be over at half three, allowing for the two minutes stoppage time.
It is ALWAYS two minutes, even if it should be 18 like the 1995 and 2003 finals.
If we used a time keeper, and the clock stopped, it would be at least ten minutes EVERY game, well football that is.

Re: Quarter Finals Draw
Well Meath are back in Croke Park despite everyone consistently writing them off. Comments like those of Swinford2009 are exactly what I hope to be reading for the next week. There's nothing I like better than a Meath team who apparantly haven't a hope against a brilliant Mayo side.
As for yesterday, well the aim was to win so its a case of mission accomplished and bring on the next team for me. Whether or not, we'll beat Mayo is open to much debate but how good are Mayo? Beating New York and Roscommon told us nothing new and then getting past one of the worst Galway teams in years didn't come as much as a surprise. For the next week, "we have nothing to fear" comments from the west will suit us nicely. We'll go into the game as underdogs, again just the way I like it.
For Meath, they can only improve on the areas where needs be. I still don't think they have come close to their potential yet. Their potential is probably what I seen for the first 45 minutes of Wexford a year ago. A repeat of that would beat any team thats left in the championship - well that would be my thinking anyway. There are no standout teams this year and with a bit of luck, a percieved weaker team like Donegal or Meath could go all the way.
