Hurling Quarter Finals
Kilkenny v Limerick
Everyone is expecting the mother of all backlashes from Kilkenny but this Limerick team are progressive and will not face this game with any fear under the stewardship of John Allen. They had Tipp on the ropes earlier in the season but could not figure out how to land the coup de grace and it will be a similar story against the Cats I suspect who should have Fennelly, Rice and JJ all starting the next day.
Verdict Kilkenny
Waterford v Cork
Cork are lurking in the background like a bad smell and have been blessed again with the draw. They will fancy their chances here having run Tipp a lot closer than Waterford managed yesterday although the Munster semi final had a strangely pedestrian feel to it. Waterford have huffed and puffed this year without achieving anything really and look vulnerable here.
Verdict Cork

Yeah Cork and Cats for me. JBM has a nice mix going on there - too early for them yet but this will help the building process. Waterford constantly short of 3-4 players to crack the big time and no different now.
Clare gave it a right lash too and won't be far away in coming years.

They'll be all out of excuses if something doesn't happen next year. They need a real statement win, beating a Dublin side in freefall this season doesn't count. A 2nd year for Davy and more importantly a year of Div 1a hurling under their belts should help. It better or their in big danger of squandering some genuine talent, At this point their still 5th of 5 in MunsterParouisa wrote:

Fennelly back is a huge plus. I reckon the Cats will be like men possessed tomorrow. I'd say anything that moves will get a belt of the ash ....

Re: Hurling Quarter Finals
Huge opportunity today for Limerick. The notion of the invincible Kilkenny is well and truly done with and it says a lot that many are relying on a 'backlash' performance from them today as opposed to a performance in itself. Nothing lasts forever and we can be at times often be apprehensive in our acknowledgement of change. People are so used to Kilkenny's dominance that the very idea of the likes of Limerick hounding them today, just as Galway did in Croke Park, is challenging. 'Surely the great Kilkenny are incapable of stringing two poor performances in a row. Cody won't allow it, surely to ****!'
Bull. The Cats are on the ropes big time right now. It's there for Limerick, it's merely a question of whether they can seize the opportunity in front of them. I for one believe that they can.

Lehane is out. In what should be a very tight game, I am switching my verdict* from Cork to Waterford. The old dog for the hard road etc.

Love these do or die championship hurling matches.
I'm going for Waterford and Kilkenny.
Hoping for a close opening match with someone like Mullane or Molumphy the difference. Winners to take apart Galwy.
I'd like to see Kilkenny open Limerick up and put the frighteners on Tipp. All-Ireland Final in a semi-final then.

John Mullane scores a point and neither kisses his shirt or punches the air. Something must be up

Serious performance from Mullane in the first half to almost single handedly drag Waterford back into this. In a word, awesome

Cork and Galway to play in the All-Ireland Final.
In normal circumstances, I'd be praying for both teams to lose were that possible but if this case, I'll make an exception. I'll be delighted to see one or the other in the final - they will get destroyed!

He was certainly doing all he could to drag them back ino the game just before half time, he was everywhere and picking up a serious amount of ball. Sean Og was getting a bit of a runaround from him.
They still managed to throw it away though...

Re: Hurling Quarter Finals
The so called hurling experts are fairly quiet here (ie Mossbags). Kilkenny did a job, end of story its a pity they lost both Richie Power and Hogan.
Galway will hate the favourites tag and rebels will reach their first All Ireland final since 2006 where they will be joined by Tipperary who will scrape past the Cats with a last minute goal.
