Dublin vs Kildare
I'm praying for a draw.
Pack them off to Thurles and listen to all the moaning from dubs then. There will be uproar if they are made travel to Tipperary for a game. Oh please let it be a draw.

It will also help to separate the 70,000 odd bandwagon fans who follow the team for the drink after a game and the 20-25 true supporters who follow the team because they are loyal fans of Dublin GAA.

Here Mr L s*** stirrer - we went to Thurles to play Kerry in 2001 - and the replay a week later in our thousands lad - thousands! They are still living on the money we spent there.
They can have Cork there for the hulring and they spend nothing - even Ministers bring their own sandwiches ....
Personally - as KK would say - I'd LOVE it!

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
hard to know what sort of game to expect - Dublin certainly wont get the same room as they did against Westmeath though Kildare arent exactly the youngest of teams and the wide open spaces of Croker may be to their detriment. I'd expect Dublin to win by 4-5 points if their forwards put the boots on the right feet this time.
Gilroy will probably be hoping for a tight game so he can learn that bit more about his troops - he wont want a repeat of last years final thats for sure.
Kildare to put it up to Dublin for 60 minutes but the Dubs will pull away in the end.

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
I honestly think that Dublin should win this well for a number of reasons. No doubt Kildare have improved hugely under Geezer and have 'come out of the pack' in Leinster - but there is still a fair gap to Dulbin IMO. I saw Louth v Laois and Laois are very poor so I expected Kildare to take them with ease.
Kildare have not been in a final in a good few years and it will be interesting to see how their players cope with the white hot atmosphere. Also this Dublin team has no 'mental baggage' with Kildare and that could be a factor.
Dermot Early will not lord it over midfield but I would have concerns about the Dublin backline against quality like Johnny Doyle and James Kavanagh who has impressed me this season.
I expect Dublin to come out firing on all cylinders and if they post some early scores it will be interesting to see how the Lilies react. I expect Dublin to win by 5/6 in a fairly high scoring game.

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
Agree Boc hard game to call. The question is are Kildare all that they are cracked up to be. Hard physical team but then so to are the dubs.
dublin possibly have better forwards and I still think that Kildare full back line is there for the taking.
Is that lad from Moorefield fit to play (O Neill I think his name is, full back and class as well).
will Early be as dominant in midfield?
Still expect the Dubs to win this and they should lead on and be playing a game in Sept if the avoid Tyrone- only team I can see beating them (and everyone else)at this stage.

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
the winning and losing of this game will be in the first 15-20 mins, the dubs will come out of the traps at speed and will look to kill of kildare early as they always do. it is here we will see the true worth of this kildare team, if they can hold on to dublins coattails in this period then we will really see a very good close game for the first time in lienster this year. if kildare can keep it to 4-5 points in that time they will claw there way back into this game. dublin have not conceded a goal this year in the championship which shows they are strong at the back and they will need to be agaisnt a very good kildare attack.
in the second half if its still tight the dbs have huge players to bring in and this will be a key factor, while klidare will have 15 good men on the field the dubs have that and another 4-5 to bring off the bench and this is where they haev improved no end, whealon, ryan quinn would make most teams certanly kildares team and to have them to bring ion with 20mins to go will be enough for the dubs to win by 3-4 points.

Brennan is a liability. He should have gone against Meath also. Very average footballer, who is miles out of his depth at CHB on that Dublin side.

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
as it comes up to half-time i have to say its been a good first half on a par with berry v monaghan game in a different way though,
early loding mid-field and he looks like an all-star at the moment, john doyle starting to come into his own with smith, kavangh and sweeney playing great stuff in the forwards and all 6 forwards have scored in the first half.
the dubs are losing it around the middle of the field and i expect to see whealo ( came on as a blood sub) and ryan coming in very soon to sort that out, only jao and to a lesser extent alan brogan are doing anything in the dublin forward line after a very good start.
where to go for the dubs? they need to start winning some thing around mid-field and tif they start to get something out of early who is the man of the match at the moment then they will come good. there backs are gettiing roasted but in truth it is because the ball is going in with out any pressure on the kicker and they need to start working harder, kildare look good gonna be a great second half

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
Good first half of football. Dublin predictably raced out of the blocks and racked up an early few scores as they did against Westmeath. Many other teams would have folded on such an occasion but much credit to Kildare, held their nerve and did excellent to get back into the team bit by bit. Even after the second goal they again showed great resolve to keep going and go in ahead at the break. No team under McGeeney will fold in the way other teams have to Dublin and he's instilled a great belief and edge in the Kildare team this year. The forwards are doing very well up front, with the likes of Kavanagh and Smith not letting Doyle do it all on his ow anymore. Would be great to see Kildare do it but they'll have to keep it cool when they're under pressure again in this half, they'll be very well prepared for Dublin coming back at them now so they're well capable of winning this.

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
after 15 mins of the scond half its got very sloppy, i think both teams have burnt themselves out in the first half. alan brogan is playing well and they are holding there own around the middle of the field.
Jayo just gone off quinn has come in and here is where the dubs can win it, from the bench. so far cullen, whelo and now quinn has come on. cullen has played very wll whelo has sorted mid-field can quinn make his mark?

Re: Dublin vs Kildare
Fantastic block from a Dublin man there, who was it, Flynn? On moments like that tight games like this hinge, looked like a certain point given the room the Kildare man had. Dublin kicking alot into the keepers hands though.
