Big teams in the qualifiers
So what do you think to this?
There are some tough teams already in it, Monaghan and Down.
Teams that I think will be joining them are Armagh, Meath and Cork.
Definitely going to be an interesting summer and anyone who does go in through the backdoor will definitely deserve to win Sam - If they do.
Monaghan will definitely meet another Ulster team, possibly Armagh.

Down tough? Meath possibly? Oh I dunno - how long does it take for people to forget historical greatness and see the shortcomings of the teams of today .....

Down can take on any team....not many teams have peaked yet and Down would put it up to any team they meet in the qualifiers. But they will go out in the 2/3rd round.Jayo Cluxton wrote:Down tough? I think I'll go crazy if we meet another Ulster team! We haven't met anyone outside of Ulster bar Kerry since 2006! It would be refreshing to have a change but I fear you might be right Admin.

it will throw up some big games for sure, its a good job that us here in sligo will be going through the front door this year as it would get a little tricky through the backdoor i pity poor Galway though gonna be tough for them

Re: Big teams in the qualifiers
Down haven't a hope this year, major upsets in camp regarding management etc, can't see them making it past the 1st round unless it's a very weak team, can see them meeting Tipp and getting beat by Tipp again. Down are living on past reputation and have been for over a decade.

MMM - didn't ye meet Kerry in 2005 and 2006? I think ye were asking for anyone but Kerry after that!

Re: Big teams in the qualifiers
Meath won't be in the qualifiers my friends.
My confidence is rarely if ever misplaced, I think we will beat the Dubs. Also, unlike 2007, there seems to be a calm and quiet confidence amongst Meath fans, I don't know why but there is.
I don't know what the mood is like in Dublin, but I am looking forward to the big game more than ever. I'm confident we'll do it.

Believe me Loyal - I know a lot of them and speak to them regularly and I think you are getting this mixed up with an air of resignation.

We shall see. If people want to write Meath off as no-hopers, that is fine by me.
Just so long as they don't make excuses if and when Meath cause a surprise or two.

Its not impossible that Meath will win - I personally think it highly unlikely. If they do I will be the first to say well done, Loyal. I just don't rate them as you know - not even when they drew two seasons ago and I think they have gone backwards since.

Played Kerry in the league in 2006 but that was the height of it. In 2005/2006 we played a wide variety like Louth, Wicklow, Wexford and London in the qualifiers!

London
Offaly
Monaghan
Down
Waterford
Longford
Carlow
Tipperary
Losers of:
Meath vs Dublin
Tyrone vs Armagh
Westmeath vs Wicklow
Kildare vs Wexford
Cavan vs Fermanagh
Donegal vs Antrim
Laois vs Louth
Roscommon vs Leitrim
That is only off the top of my head but I think I'm right, aren't I?

It seems that the majority of teams with an 'o' in their name are getting beat with neither Limerick and Tipp having an 'o'...might this be prevelant in the rest of those games? With those that have an 'o' in the spelling?

Re: Big teams in the qualifiers
I'm really looking forward to the Dublin Meath game, the more people i speak to the more are tipping Meath to have a very big year and i'm very interested to see how the Dubs get on under new management. Either way, the loser will be a very big name in the Qualifiers that's for sure.
Monaghan will be a team worth avoiding for any side looking to progress, i think Down are going to whimper out if i'm honest but Tipp may pick themselves up and give it a crack depending on who they play.
