Mislaid by tablets....very worrying.

You OK there??..I reality, will Dublin be able to regroup? How bad, if bad at all, is Brogan's hamstring?
O'Gara will have missed a bit of match time, will he be back on song by June 5th. Any sign of un-earthing a reliable dead-ball kicker?.
The amount of big games this deficit has cost you is rising rapidly. Redmond and the penalties, Cosgrove and now Quinn..... Embarassed

Leitrim GT team...terrific stuff.

God knows how sunday week will go. I've been doing the pilgrimage to tawley mass rock weekly.
Sligo as per last year are confident. On the basis of nothing.
They've gone back since last year.

Looks like Mckeon will be full back.
Mossy supposedly flying.

I was impressed by Gallagher at f/b so far this year JB and would slot McKeon at chb if he's fit enough. It would suit his style and mentality down to the ground.
"Hey! I'm back", followed by a few tearing runs.. Mossy is putting in a big effort by all accounts but the usual ould malaise hasn't been rectified - not enough scoring power. Mulligan's return will help but the Manor Glancy's form has gone out the window.
I'd start Wayne McKeon in the half-forward line and for the last fookin' time, chance Barry Prior in the half back line.

1-9 we're solid enough, it's after that the problems start. Mulligan, McKeon, Croal and Glancy should start but it's the hind tit after that.

Team probably will be.

1. McCrann
2. Reynolds annaduff
3. Mckeon
4. maguire
5. Prior
6. Gary Reynolds
7. Beck
8. Daniel Lowe
9. Mossy beirne
10. Brennan
11. Mulligan
12. Mckeon
13. Beirne
14. Glancy
15. Croal

5, 7 , 12 open for change. From what I hear Mckeon is supposedly to be deployed to full back. Seems a bit hard on gallagher who held his own all league. Prior will probably get the nod. Would love to see brennan in at half back but don't think they'll play him there.
They've played two challenges last two weeks. However they were against Carlow and whoever was willing to put on a fermanagh jersey. both good victories but challenges this time of year aren't useful. Seemingly glancy played well however.

We shall wait and see.
Kelly is out according to walsh but rumour has it he may play a part. Croal was outrageous against mayo in the junior game. Hopefully he keeps it going.

Sligo Juniors (featuring a few of the senior panel) had a good win over Galway last weekend, which has boosted confidence in the camp a bit. Despite a poor league campaign, there were some good performances in parts, with a lot of experimentation in line-ups.

Also, the standard of opposition was a step above what Leitrim faced during the league, and this should stand to the lads also.

My biggest worry would be the number of injuries that we have encountered this season. Very few positions have had a regular holder so far this year.
McGuire's absence for much of the league campaign means that full-back is a worry, although Ross Donovan looked fairly good there in the last game or two. Johnny Davey is still out (from last year's cruciate injury) and David Kelly is still likely to miss out (had heard the rumours of possible involvement too JB, but saw him tonight and he didn't even tog for training).

Was out in DCU this evening training with the club (all four of us!), and both the Sligo and Mayo capital-based players were there training as well. Mayo had about 10-15 lads, coaches and well-organised drills, followed by a competative (and physical) hand-passing game. The Sligo lads fielded some kick-outs from Philip Greene, kicked a few points, and did a set of ten 50m sprints................. Hardly a strenuous session.
(We did a combination of 300, 200, 75, 50 and 25m sprints totalling 2800m btw pale )

Dublin minors were also out training (biggest fecking set of minors I've seen in a while!). Did a lot of physical tackling drills, followed by a full 15v15 game. They looked the most impressive of any of the teams on show...

Positional alterations only for me (Gallagher aside)...Shane Canning is knocking around, got a little game time in the league and may, one day, or for one 10 minute spell fulfill his potential. Beck isn't hardy enough for the cut and thrust of Connacht champo....

Don't rate McGuire at all.
Any ideas of what a team might be B&W.? Who do you think will play centre back and will they go with O'Hara at 14 dropping back.

Kelly out is a major bonus for us though.

Wouldn't rate McGuire too highly either TBH. Best days are well behind him. Problem is that Walsh seemed to have wanted to keep him at FB for another year, and hadn't planned too well for a replacement.
Conor Davey from my own club played the first few league games at FB, but was dire. He doesn't man-mark well enough to play FB at club level, never mind inter-county. He's either a midfielder or a wing-back/forward.
McGovern looks liklely to be centre back, but the returning Brendan Egan is supposed to be flying in training, and is a possibility there (or 2/3 other positions!)
EOH will most likely start at 14, but may not drop back as much as last year. He's a fairly effective ball-winner inside, and has played the target man role this year a bit more than in previous years.

IMO the team will be:

1. Greene
2. Harrison
3. Donovon/McGuire
4. Ewing/Donovan
5. Kennedy (Kennedy and Harrison could switch positions)
6. Egan/McGovern
7. Rooney
8. Taylor (Eugene Mullen a possibility here, but he needs some games under his belt with Easkey first IMO - did his cruciate in Championship last August, and only back training in past few weeks).
9. Gilmartin
10. Sweeney (I hope not, but Walsh seems to like the donkey)
11. Costello
12. Brehony
13. Coen
14. O'Hara
15. Marren

One week to go.
Any word on brehony? Heard he picked up a hamstring injury. By all accounts leitrim are going ok. Challenges are fairly useless this time of year but by all accounts leitrim are racking up the scores. Something we struggle to do every year.

PP have us the same price as fermanagh. 5/1. Seems a bit crazy.

Kevin Walsh was a spectator at our club game on Sunday. Some murmurrings that he was there to ensure that Ewing didn't play as opposed to throwing the eye over anyone!

Only have 2nd hand accounts on Brehony, wasn't really talking to any of the panel since last week. Struggling allegedly, but you never know with these Mary's feckers. They're usually whinging about something. Laughing

Having ye the same price as Fermanagh is a bit much. If Sligo were coming into this on a good run of form, and with a full squad, then I'd say they were fairly accurate, but given the poor year we've had I'd expect it to be much closer

Many thanks for the encouraging comments from neighbours and assorted allies on the day. Commiserations to B&W, not ye're day.....

Love him or hate him, the mercurial Barry Prior had one of his better days and the faith espoused here by Johnno and myself in Adrian Croal was shown in a fine all round display. The Beirne brothers were the main men on the day, although Wayne McKeon's all round performance (0-02 from w/h/b) earned him the MOM.

Moran gave his usual rousing, chirpy and impassioned speech to RTE in the aftermath.. Suspect What a guy.. Embarassed . His best positional move of the day was to leave John McKeon on the bench and the extra fortnight will be a big help to him. Subject to John being fit to face the Sheepstealers, I'd slot him in at c/h/b deploying Gary Reynolds and Prior to the wings and moving Wayne Mac to wing forward to the exclusion of Brennan.

Moran must lurk here cos' between JB and myself we gave him 14 of the starting 15 here a fortnight ago. Obviously the gimp spotted it and rearranged the troops accordingly...Onwards and upwards, bring on them Rossies. The Abbey beckons but no, the Monday club shall reconvene in the aftermath of this.... Wink

The mighty GT influence works again! Boxty - last year the Cavan Post carried an article about Tipster's backing of Cavan - mind you it went to the wall soon after. Is there a local Leitrim Paper that you could pen something for? The Leitrim Mail or the Leitrim Sun or sumtin!

Great opportunity of a Connacht Final now for Leitrim, Mulligan should be ok for the semi, great to finally see him playing Championship. Micky Moran is a bit of a plank but it was some stroke to bring in all them young lads who were clearly well drilled and full of belief. Won't see a better ball in to a Full forward all year than Glancy's ball in for the crucial goal. It was a poignant victory for Leitrim and fully deserved.
Whither to Sligo? The Kevin Walsh project is tottering on the brink. A nice handy home draw and their just the type to go on a decent run in the qualifiers, anything less and it will be firmly back to the drawing board.

Poignant is indeed the word. The first time in I'd say in 14 years we didn't start a campaign without a McGuinness, given that John started before Mick. Philly RIP would have had a rampaging kind of day yesterday I dare say, but such is life.
Fair dues the "the Manor Glancy"...under pressure all Spring regarding the captaincy and lack of form. A fine display yesterday considering he buried his father in the last 7 days.

It seems the biggest winners from yesterday were the numerous fine establishments in Carrick. It seems most of Leitrim and a fair few Cavan folk celebrated the result lastnight. JS reluctantly remained at home for recovery purposes.. Mad
