Who should be GT Team of 2011
Re: Leitrim- GG Team of 2011
[quote="JonsmithIt seems the biggest winners from yesterday were the numerous fine establishments in Carrick. It seems most of Leitrim and a fair few Cavan folk celebrated the result lastnight. JS reluctantly remained at home for recovery purposes.. [/quote]
Don't tell me that that incorrigable scamp Freddy slipped you a "Fred Special" of his customary dubious quality in the small hours of Sunday....Will you ever learn....

I hope B&W is all right.....Probably persuading his father that the farm isn't totally lost in the punt he had on Saturday.....He couldn't bet the cattle.

Re: Leitrim- GG Team of 2011
Congrats to Boxty, johnnos bull, and any other citizens of Lovely Leitrim that happen to come across this.
Wasn't at the game (was at a funeral in UK Sunday) so can't really offer much in depth analysis on what went wrong, but from talking to a lad at home it seems that Kelly was badly missed, and Brehony's injury (and it's re-occurrence when he came off the bench) didn't help matters either. 10 points in a Championship game is a poor return.
Was also mentioned that midfield was diabolical, no surprise in that. TT simply not mobile enough for this level, and SG is still in need of 2/3 more years under his belt.

Thanks for the concern Boxty, only returned from UK today.
Family was visited by tragedy over the last month, but hopefully can start to move on from it.

Re: Leitrim- GG Team of 2011
Sorry to hear about that B&W.
12th June. It'll be well worth the trip lads.
Sligo looked unfit. Half forward line had a torrid time. Davey steadied the ship a little when he came on at midfield. Leitrim won everything at the break.
And what a midfielder Mossy is. I watched that program ar tg4 on saturday night about Dara O'se and the dying breed that he is. Mossy is a real throwback with his super fielding skills, powerful running and an ability to take hits all day.
I thought we were going to blow it at start of second half. It's amazing how better we play against the wind and it came back to haunt us on sunday. But goals win games.

Well, it's finally confirmed. Mickey Moran has been re-appointed for another year. "All players disciplined in past years are up for consideration in 2012"..
A spoofer, chancer and bluffer of the highest order. He "hopes" to lead the team out of Div.4.......To Div. 5 if the opportunity was open....Grrrrrr.

The County Board.....could it get worse?
SFC quarter-finals this Saturday
18 August 2011
All four Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship quarter-finals are down for decision this Saturday evening.
The early throw-in comes at 5.15 in Cloone, where Mohill and Annaduff clash for a place in the last four. In what expected to be a close battle, Mohill go in with the edge after a convincing win over Cloone but know they'll be in for a dogfight against an Annaduff side whom always believe they have their neighbours' number.
The first part of a double-header in Carrick-on-Shannon sees Glencar/Manorhamilton and Kiltubrid collide at Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, where the champions will be expected to comfortable see of a Kiltubrid side that are in bonus territory.
The latter game is at 7.00pm and sees St Mary's Kiltogert and Bornacoola meet at the same venue. Both teams have had a host of tight encounter thus far and there is no reason not to expect another one here. Bornacoola will view this weekend as a huge chance to get back to the business end of the championship and should have enough in their arsenal to come through against the Saints.
The remaining game brings us back to Cloone, where Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins will be hoping to see off the challenge of Aughawillan. The fact that Aughawillan go into this last eight clash as underdogs will suit them, but Ballinamore's firepower could prove too much for them to live with. (Throw-in 7.00pm).
4 matches, all this evening. In the name of God what are these people thinking of. Ideally these could have been played over the weekend, allowing patrons and Management the facility to run the eye over the main protagonists, but NO.....
Chancers, continuing the tradition of having the County final on the 3rd Sunday in September to lick up to Croke Park.....

Ballinamore bullish about this one. Were talking about this game 3 weeks ago before the groups had even finished. JS had intended on making the trip to Cloone but Fleadh 'commitments' have taken precedence. I still wouldn't dream of betting against the Willies.

For any revival to take place in our county's fortunes it will need both these clubs to provide the nucleus of the team.
Country backs from the Willies and crafty townie forwards from the town.....**
** You may safely exclude Mohill from this caveat..

Ballinamore overcome the "Willies" 12 points to 7.
Manor rout Kiltubrid.
Carrick (St.Marys) slaughter the Bors (Bornacoola)
Mohill draw with Annaduff..1-10 to 0-13....
Glencar/Manors to lose now....**
** Despite tonights draw, Boxty feels there's a kick left in Mohill....
The County Board must be fuming, they'll want the replay on Thursday..

Cavan ladies overturn an 8 point deficit to draw with Leitrim and then hammer them in extra time. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Aisling Doonan is the best pound for pound footballer in Cavan.

Sadly some Tipperary gurriers took their possessions (phones, purses, girly stuff) from their bus......
I'll be roaring for Kilkenny in the light of this act of common thievery....

I did enjoy the Leitrim Chairman's comment on the matter "To lose a match they should have won was bad enough without this"

Don't think Bmore have the grit myself.. Although they are a young side yet. Moran is a fine player.
Gerry's departure is imminent.. Just not enough raw materials at his disposal.

Re: Leitrim- GG Team of 2011
Think we'd need to take a look at another countys championship perhaps the donegal format of league/ championship. Bar about 3 games has been an unbelievably uncompetitive championship.
The league needs to take on more importance.
Hard to see past manor in my opinion for championship. However due to the nature of this years championship they haven't been tested. Whereas mary's have a good game under their belt. Always felt that annaduff were the best equipped to challenge manor.
