Re: Michaela Harte RIP
Mickey Harte speaking on RTE news about the death of his daughter. Absolutely heartbreaking. Brian Dobson even seemed to find it hard to speak after it was shown. He pleaded for privacy for themselves and John McAreevey.. Hopefully that request will be respected. Dealing with something like that is unimaginable as it is let alone being in the media gaze.

Will bring some hope where there is none
Will brighten up the darkest space
Will bring a smile to the saddest face
Will bring such joy to all they know
And leave a happiness wherever they go.
Sometimes that soul
Will suddenly be gone
And leave a void
Where light once shone,
And all that’s left
Are memories and thoughts
Of all the goodness
They once brought.
And through the hurt
And through the despair
It is the memories
That all should share,
To remind and remember
Though we can’t see
That the light still shines
Wherever it may be.

Re: Michaela Harte RIP
I have to say Mickey deserves enormous credit for the tv interview he gave today, the way he spoke and the fact he was able to speak at all speaks volumes for the man he is. The pain he and the rest of the family are going through must be immeasureable and yet he afforded the media some time for an interview when he could have seen them far enough.
I dont know how they will all get through this awful time but my prayers and thoughts are with them all

Agreed very dignified and personal
As you touched on earlier - as a parent with daughters - I can't imagine anyhing much worse than what has happend
especially given the close bond they had.

FAO Bocerty...
Tough oul' week on you lads up there.....Great dignity and sense of togetherness displayed by all, as was befitting....
All the Gaels of Tyrone can have a sense of pride in their own high standards and execution of their responsibilities, not that it's any use to the bereaved families....
Still, credit where it's due.

Very moving and sad. My heart went out to the families and poor MH looked shattered - as he is. A lovely send off and hopefully the prayers of a nation - and they have that - can help them in the coming months.

was at the wake on Saturday Boxty and dont think i have ever seen a display of togetherness like the one i witnessed there, from stewards to guys driving buses ferrying mourners to and from the wake house from 3 different locations, tea makers you name it the Errigal Ciaran club had it covered (with a little help possibly from County board and Ulster Council) but it brought it home to me that in the face of such adversity and god knows this is the worst adversity anyone could face, there is no better organisation than the GAA.

Since the news came through I really havent had the heart to post re any matters. And yes Boc after watching it on the news last night everyone connected should feel proud of the organisation and care shown. The families, I dont know how they will recover but the great togetherness of their neighbours and County will I know give them strengh.
Makes our exchanges over the football etc. seem so irrelevent in the overall context. I sat next to Mickey and Marion during the 2009 final and we had a bit of good humoured banter but two lovely people. Again you can be proud of your people and your county.

Re: Michaela Harte RIP
I too like RKF hadn't the heart to post on any matters during the week of mourning in our county and indeed throughout the rest of the country. It did show that in times of tragedy there is none better than the GAA family who came from every corner of Ireland to pay their respects to the Harte and McAreavey families. Long may the sporting rivalries, the craic and slanging matches continue when any of our counties happen to meet each other on the field but it is comforting to know that we're all part of an organisation that offer genuine support to one and other in our times of need.

Couldn't watch to be honest. Each to their own way of dealing with things but I think it was far too early for that kind of documentary.

Of a similar view - I'd err on the cynical side when it comes to fate and spirituality - and thankfully life to date has not dealt me cards as tough as those that the Harte family have had to deal with - but I watched a few seconds of this last night and switched over to re-runs of family guy.

How far too early JC? To early in that they weren't ready to talk about it? Who defines what is too early?

Well I said each to their own but she is a little over 3 months dead. I would have thought things would be still a bit raw (and there are still court proceedings and thus some kind of conclusion to the tragedy) to be doing this. Maybe they felt it would help them and if so fair enough. I am not knocking them but I have been through far less tragic circumstances and would not have been in any state of mind for something like that for a long time after.

Re: Michaela Harte RIP
Personally I wouldn't agree with a documentary like this.. and so soon after the tragedy too. I would wonder why the family agreed to participate in it..
But they are experiencing grief that most of us can barely imagine so if this process helped them in any way then why not I suppose.
