Re: The Premier League
Two very good goals from Rooney and Welbeck. The second half was disappointing, United should have forced the issue and instead let City back into it. Entertaining game though. United riddled with injuries, two 37 and 38 year olds playing still beat City's galacticos.. They're not gone no matter how much people want them to be.

They did beat the Galacticos - all 10 of them! If you saw a display yesterday that makes you think United are still a powerful force then fair play to you. I didn't.

I thought refs were supposed to card players looking to get others booked? What happened to that rule???
If that rule was enforced Barcalona would finish every game with about 3 players.
They're the worst team in the world for it (with Real Madrid a close second), yet the first time you hear any complaints about it is when it's a United player doing it.........

Did the incident in question happen in a Premier League game?
There's been plenty of comment RE Barcalona on the non-EPL thread, very strange that nobody who "hates" these kind of antics felt the need to comment on there, despite it happening every 3 minutes when Barca play.

Re: The Premier League
I don't condone it from any team or in any sport. As I said I thought there was a ruling that a player would be booked for seeking to have another booked. I hate these antics all the time. United did it yesterday - and very successfully too. Maybe thats why it brought it into my mind.

Re: The Premier League
Just looking for comments on the disgraceful behaviour by Liverpool fans on friday night. The Oldham player was was very visibly upset by the racist chants aimed at him from the Kop. Now I know that it is said that only one supporter was to blame but I could see others waving Suarez scarves and chanting also. Also when the player touched the ball afterwards he was booed by a number of those in the Kop. Liverpool should have appealed the Suarez suspension or shut up. Thay choose to accept the punishment but wont let up. I believe Dalglish was wearing a Suarez t shirt on Friday night. This is only fuelling the fire of the looney element in the Kop.Liverpool stop your capers now.

Spot on. Disgraceful stuff from the club that's always the victim, and never responsible for anything.
If the club had shown any shred of decency in how they dealt with the Suarez/Evra findings then things would probably have played out a lot differently on Friday evening.

Sadly, Liverpool have always had a reputation for this. I remember when John Barnes signed, the club played him only in away games for the first month, as they feared the racist abuse that he would get fom his own fans. The fears were well-founded as, when he eventually made his home debut, he had a banana hurled at him.
No-one at Liverpool has come out of the last couple of weeks well - Suarez, the other players, Dalglish and the board. There comes a time when 'team-bonding' and 'supporting your team-mate' has to be jettisoned in favour of decency.

Re: The Premier League
And it is exactly their mindset that brought about Friday's incident. If they could not see (in their bubble) how their stance was playing out then Friday night's incident brought it home. Though they still probably can't see it.
Some 20 year old moron still thinks its ok to hurl racist abuse at another young lad on a football pitch. And why wouldn't he when the club itself speaks out of both sides of it's mouth on the issue. Dreadful stuff.

Re: The Premier League
Sad to see a famous club like Man United left with nothing to play for in January. Still at least they gave the FA Cup a bit of a shot ... how times have changed. They were never going to get the better of a club with the pedigree of Liverpool. I reckon Fergie will be putting out his first XI in the Carling Cup next year. Made a nice few bob today - thanks to a flying Kuyt!
