Famous people you have met ....
Well have any of you met any 'famous' people? Did they measure up? Were they receptive - or rude?
Give us your experiences - and if they were unkind - bear in mind the libel laws!

Re: Famous people you have met ....
My partner and I met Sir Bobby Charlton in Heathrow a few years back and he was pig ignorant to us.
Met Graeme Sharp (Everton legend) and he was very nice and allowed us in onto the Goodison Park pitch.
I met Michael Carruth, Kenny Egan, Paddy Barnes, Katie Taylor, John Joe Joyce and John Joe Nevin at an event recently and they are all very polite and friendly.
Met different GAA Players, some are ok, some have their heads up their own a**es.
Also met Mary McAleese. Lovely woman.

Met Kevin Moran (famous Man Utd and world cup legend) outside Old Trafford. He was nice enough.
Met Alex Ferguson, in Utd Museum, he was just in walking around. Came outside and got his photo taken with us.
Packie Bonner, fairly rude to be honest.
Damien Duff in hotel opposite RDS last year for Bruce Springsteen concert, he was getting his photo taken with alot of kids, seemed to have alot for them.
On that note, had a sleep over at Michael Jacksons, he was very friendly.

Meet Bono in rather unusal circumstances.
Doing a game in south Wexford and we had to stop because a helicopter needed it to land they were going to a wedding in the area.
Turned out to be his nibs and the clann.
Teams didn't mind they all got there photo taken with him if they wanted.
To be fair he stayed to meet them apologied for disrupting the game he was meant to land earlier he had it sorted out with the club whose ground he was landing on.
Went for a few pints with Zack Wylde and a couple of other metal merchants as well

Was walking down the street in Sydney (on my way to a job in a Masonic lodge) and I saw Ian Rush coming out of a hotel. He had signed for a Sydney club for a few months in a publicity stunt. Just gave him a "Howya John Aldridge", shook his hand and walked on.

Re: Famous people you have met ....
Was a few years behind the Westlife lads in school. Used to play football with Shane at lunchtime - very down to earth guy even still. Pity same can't be said for Kian.
The father is good friends with Pat McCabe, and have met Neil Jordan through him - seems like a nice guy, but quite intense.
Did a goalkeeping course with Packie Bonner a few years ago, seemed very nice and went for a drink with him and Nicky Brougos (former Sligo Rovers & USA Keeper, part-time striker with my junior soccer team) afterwards.
Met Kevin Moran in Toffs nightclub in Sligo, me and the lads chatted to him for about 20 minutes, seemed dead on.
Caddied for Alex Ferguson at Rosses Point golf club, he was over for the supporters' club dinner dance, and I was lucky enough to be next in line to caddy! Very nice guy - rented a buggy and just wanted yardage tips (no bag to carry), full of chat and gave a healthy tip afterwards .
The auld lad is vice-chairman of the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, and as a result I've met Mary Robinson, Mary McAleese, Bertie, Biffo and John Bruton. All seemed very friendly, but there were cameras around every time!
Also met George Hamilton though the ASI, his daughter works in head office, and he often comes to events.... that said, I was more interested in the daughter!

Re: Famous people you have met ....
The Saturday afternoon club were in full swing one day, about 6 of us together, punting, pinting and talking football. In lands Michael Lyster accompanied by the aforementioned Pat Spillane and we're all teamed up together. 30 minutes later in comes a deceased pal of ours with Graham Geraghty in tow, so the banter is now truly manic.
It should be mentioned that one of our original group was potless (as usual) but is a legendary character on the roll and well worth carrying for the evening. Let's call him "Dada"
Anyway the rounds are flying, Dada keeping the score, and when the circle starts again Dada nudges me and whispers "Spillane the cnut hasn't bought" Nor did he the next one either, so he's on a sponsored trip.
At the next opportunity Dada tackles Spillane as follows:
Dada: Jay, Pat you had a fierce reach on you in your prime.
Pat: Yerrah! in my youth I used pull myself up on the beams of the hayshed to strenghten the arms. That's where I got the reaching ability from.
Dada: Well reach over there to phook (indicating bar) and get 7 pints of Heineken, 4 pints of stout..........
Cue cheers all round and the beauty of it being where the direction came from...
