Re: Opinions
I am not debating that fact Niamh. I am saying that you mention that everyone's entitled to their own opinion, which ofcourse they are. However, how is making jokes about a dead man expressing one's opinion???

I mean that people made them before his death, so why should they change just because he has died?

but jokes aren't expressing an opinion, that's what I'm saying. Also, telling jokes about someone when they're still alive is a lot different to telling them once they're dead.

Did you not find them funny, Essie?
If you click on your profile, its says "Happy!!!!" for your humour, this dosen't appear to be the case anymore?

No, I didn't find jokes about someone I admire so much, alluding to him being a paedo when he's barely a day dead, funny. I actually found them sick.

They express the opinion that I don't think Michael Jacksons status has been changed from alleged paedophile to saint because he is dead no. Remember we are discussing the person not his music. Also, don't you think it would be hypocritical to change ones outlook on someone due to their status of being alive?

Yes but others believe he was a paedo, you are dismissing their opinions.

That is harsh. I am disappointed in some posters, given recent going-ons. I had respect for some people but I don't anymore. Look, these things happen, nobody d......actually forget I said that. Can we all just move along?
Nothing to see here, move along.

What I am saying is that when a person dies, it is EXTEREMELY disrespectful and wrong to makes jokes about them. It would not be hyprocritical to for a person to not tell jokes about a dead man less than a day after he's died. Rather respectful.
Also, couldn't you think of a better way to express your opinion of Michael Jackson than with jokes? As jokes about a person after they have died is not expressing one's opinion, but expressing their ignorance.

Re: Opinions
you were not DISCUSSING anything. you were making sick, immoral and disrespectful jokes less than 24 hours after a man died.
There's a difference between discussion and unjustified, undignified ignorance.

Sami he opening post in this hread was
Now, we are all entiltled to them agreed?
How come on this forum if someone doesn't agree with a certain persons opinion they call for threads to be banned, tells the other person to give over etc. We are all entitled to say what we want to say thats the God given right of free speech. If you don't like what you are reading then don't read on, otherwise give your opinion and be prepared to recieve others peoples back back. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them wrong.
Comprendez?!
That was all about dicussing peoples opinions.
Just because your in Wackos corner DOESN'T mean we all have to I say my piece about him but I disagreed I was called dismissed etc.
This thread is about peoples right to opinions not giving more cyperspace to someone whose personal life was far from that of a saint .
so in this case I think you are thone who is unjustified, undignified ignorance.

Jim, none of ye have explained how making sick jokes about Michael Jackson is expressing someone's opinion.
Expressing one's opinion means using dignified, serious language, not using sick, disgusting jokes.

Absolutely spot on there Jim. This thread is about one's right to express an opinion, nothing else.
On a positive note, this couple of days has done a lot for this forum in terms of sparking a bit of controversy, feuding and inter-action among posters.
Fair play to all who contributed to the whole issue whether speaking from the heart or a little tongue in cheek.
It's time to put the episode to bed in the hopes that we will all be here again tomorrow having a bit of banter in a friendly fashion.
I would also like to commend the Mods for their actions and understanding.

Re: Opinions
Opinions or not, Jokes or not, one thing for sure is i'm getting fed up of reading about this.
Personally, i have laughed at most of the jokes on here but i'm getting sick sore and tired of the crap i'm reading from people who are too uptight and easily offended.
Folks, this is a f*****g GAA forum and when we get back on to some PROPER GAA debate and craic I'll see you then. Hopefully sooner rather than later
