Limerick vs Waterford!
Game of the weekend. Limerick are crippled with injuries, Mike Fitz is out and doubts over Mike O'Brien and Brian Geary but most importantly Seamus Hickey is only 50/50 for the game. If he's out, then Limerick are in trouble. Shaughs hasn't hit the ball out of his way all year too.
Waterford, I'd say, are raring to go. The Brick will apparantly play centre back - that will be interesting.
I'll give the Deise the nod.

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
Its hard to know who would win this one. Both were lucky to reach an All Ireland Final in recent years and both dissappointed in the final. I'd say Waterford will just edge Limerick.

Agree with you clash don't know what wil happen possibility of been game of the w/end equally it could totally fall flat as two sides may be afraid to come out and play neither would want to get Cork in the new qualifiers system

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
i see Mullane is a big doubt for Waterford - if that is true he would be a big loss for them - he's one guy who will definitely give 100%

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
I suspect Waterford were UNLUCKY not to reach 2 or 3 finals in the last decade as they have been one of the top three teams.
However they are past their sell by date.limerick are capable of a shock, and certainly have the better mentors.

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
don't necessary agree with the first part of your statement they were a very over hyped team that hadn'y won Liam in a long time so people willed them to win and look at them through rose tinted glasses on what they should or shouln't have done.patrique wrote:I suspect Waterford were UNLUCKY not to reach 2 or 3 finals in the last decade as they have been one of the top three teams.

Fully agree with the second part of your post though pat.

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
Davy Fitz has the best pedigree of an manager in this country. A lot of people seem to question his tactical brain, I'm not sure why. Maybe its because he likes to shout and wave hurleys about the place on the line but that is what makes Davy so unique/special. He won the Fitzgibbon with LIT as a manager, he got Waterford to an All-Ireland final for the first time in 39 years, he's done it all as a player, what more do you want? The Brick at CHB and McGrath at FF on Sunday could prove to be strokes of genius. Come on Davy.

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
Jim, Waterford won three Munster titles in the decade, and only lost vital games to Cork and the Cats. No-one else was beating them. That makes them the 3rd best team, in my book.
And I know they lost shockers to Wexford, but over the ten years, has anyone else bar the big two been more consistent?

RTE missing the first few minutes of the game of the weekend because some Leinster football rubbish went to extra time. Disgraceful carry on from the state broadcaster

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
A pity about the conditions. Limerick have no forwards, Shaughs useless as is Donie Ryan. James O'Brien gone off. The only threat they have is Niall Moran. Midfield is even enough, Dodge and Hickey are doing well for Limerick but Mullane and Eoin Kelly doing the damage up front for Waterford.

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
I don't know what happened him mossbags but he looks a pale shadow of the hurler he once was. Limerick needed him today but it dosen't look he's rising to the occasion.
If they had a few forwards, it would be a lot closer. They are struggling in the half-forward line too, the Brick is having a good game, Waterford half-backs dominant.

Game on now.
The Munster Championship steps up a gear.
Breen should have been on from the start.

Shaughs gets the finger out at last and levels the match with less then 10mins to play.
Ken McGrath taken off for Waterford. Very poor performance by him today in fairness

Re: Limerick vs Waterford!
Good finish, awful conditions.
Waterford never pushed on in the second half. I'd still expect Waterford to win the replay though. Ken McGrath will be out to prove a point. James Ryan and Niall Moran did brilliant for Limerick in the second half.

How long has it been since there was such a low scoring game between two of the top hurling teams? Nobody within an asses roar of bonus points in the tipster needless to say!
