Re: Armagh new team sponsor
I think it has something to do with Grimley being in charge. There have been rumours for years about Morgan having a say in management and Grimley might well have told him to p*ss off. If you need an example of this, Peter McDonnell said at the end of his involvement with Armagh that there were people behind the scenes interferring.

A strong rumour at the time of McDonnell's appointment was that Joe Kernan had told the County Board that Grimley was not to get the job. Kernan also allegedly said that Morgan Fuels would withdraw their sponsorship if his recommendation was not followed.

That's the one TC. It's diffiult to ignore the rumour now.
Not too sure about the stadium name, as far as I am aware it will stay the way it is. However, I think he might have put the money up front to pay off some debts.

This goes back to my earlier post on this, outlining the stories behing Grimley being overlooked for the job last time round. From what I understand, Morgan might be better off keeping an eye on his business, as opposed to commenting on the County Board.

Terrible to see dirty linen laundered like this. Surely the integrity of Armagh GAA deserves a little more than this type of stuff.

They seemed very good to Armagh football for years and are obviously disappointed with their treatment at the end.As stated in a previous post what Grimley may have to do with it.?

Re: Armagh new team sponsor
Hughie Morgan has just made himself out to look like a complete tool. Most of Armagh GAA knows what is going on, even people outside. It was not that long ago Peter McDonnell was on drive time saying that people were interfering with the team and 3+ years later it is all coming out.
Morgan did sponsor Armagh but that does not give him the right to tell management or Armagh GAA what to do with the money.

Sponsor in acrimonious split with Armagh County Board
Armagh's main sponsor for the last 17 years, Morgan Fuels, has severed all connections with the county.
In announcing the split, the firm's managing director Hugh Morgan launched a stinging attack on the county board.
He said relationships with county officials had broken down and accused them of failing to stem the decline of gaelic football in the county.
Armagh, who recently unveiled new team sponsors, said they were disappointed with Morgan's statement.
Last year Morgan Fuels, who had been Armagh's shirt sponsor, agreed a naming rights deal for the county's redeveloped Athletic Grounds.
The contract was to have lasted for five years but has now been terminated.
Morgan claimed the county board had failed to provide agreed arrangements for branding and corporate hospitality at the ground.
He also said he felt his firm's financial backing was not being invested in the development of the county's various teams.
"I sought to bring pressure on the board by asking them to bring forward a strategy that would equip Armagh fotball to go forward with confidence and to strive for the success they had achieved previously," he said.
"I made it clear that unless such a strategy was developed, the financial support of Morgan Fuels could not be guaranteed.
"I am sorry to say that my request was ignored and, consequently, I had no option but to suspend our financial support."
In response, the Armagh county board said: "We are disappointed with Mr Morgan's response to our new sponsorship arrangements since at all times we endeavour to conduct our affairs with discretion and integrity.
"While our partnership with Morgan Fuels has been prosperous and mutually respectful for many years, recently some complications have arisen regarding the sponsorship of Armagh.
"We wish him and his company well and would like to thank him sincerely for his contribution to our county over the past 17 years.
"Finally, while we welcome advice on how to manage our coaching and games, we will ensure that this part of our operation is under the strategic control of our county board."

Exactly. You sponsor for various reason or a combination of them - you have money to spend and you love your county, you want to be associated with the team/s, you want to promote your product etc. It does not give you input or a management role.
