Cork v Kildare
If they met in the 80s a couple of the Cork lads might have been confused as to who to pass to ... but only Seanie has such a problem now and that game is gone. Can't see past a Cork win here. They were cruelly dismissed by many after coming up short last year v Mayo - despite having an injury list that would have hurt any team. All are back now and in rude health. May be a bit suspect in defence - but in midfield and attack they can destroy you. I expect them to have too much in MF for Kildare and they will not win this one on scraps. At least Seanie can concentrate on the county championships then ... hurling and football.

A fair report Emmet. As concise as possible..I'm sure you're familiar with the Babs Keating phrase.."Donkeys don't win Derby's"...
Kildare, limited 15 years ago, are still limited. In fact, today, despite my hatred of Cork, I found myself roaring for them.....

Johnston finally on the stage that matches his ego; ponderous in possession, easily blocked down in front of goal, fluffed a straight forward free. I wonder how will his appetite for Kildare Intermediate Championship be while his former clubmates are easing through the Cavan SFC and set their sights on a run in the Ulster Club.

I'm sliding by the Johnston issue,* but would ask the question:
Where did this whole "tapping-up" scenario start.....
Na Fiánna clubhouse...
