At lest we have a good man in charge of the Finances.
Kildare in plea to fans over crippling finances
Kildare GAA chiefs have turned to fans to rescue their struggling finances, by asking for 1,000 donations of €1,000.
The county’s new committee for finance, led by former EU commissioner and Minister for Finance Charle McCreevy, has urged fans to help the ailing country.
The cash-strapped council have already revealed that they are €200,000 in debt and numerous fund-raising activities have been launches, with a new jersey being designed which has coincided with the opening of a Kildare GAA store at Whitewater Shopping centre.
Secretary Kathleen O’Neill said: “The remedial action needed was not taken and, as you are aware by now, we are facing a substantial loss this year. This is the last chance we, as a county, will get to solve our problems.”
The latest initiative has saw the county lobby fans asking for a generous donation. In a further blow to Kildare, the county ground in Newbridge has had to reduce its capacity after a report found the stadium needed significant improvements.

Appalling effort on behalf of Kildare GAA. The "grammar, punctuation and spelling" police will have a field day.
While acknowledging that Kildare have tremendous supporters who have suffered at the hands of poor refereeing decisions in the past few years, the concept of finding 1,000 of them to stump up €1k each in times of austerity is laughable....
This is almost 2012 not 2006....

Ask Geezer maybe.
Sure loads of money in Kildare. Always had loads of money sure they flew Micko up and down for years in a helicopter. Horsey people. They'd make that in one good cover by a stallion.

Re: Kildare Skint
So they are €200k in debt, and want to fundraise €1million from their supporters?
Sounds like they've no intention of reining in the spending that caused the debt to be built up
