Look Meath has seen them all: Paddy O'Brien, Jack Quinn, Mick Lyons, Darren Fay. Kevin Reilly is without doubt "up there" with the best.
10 full-backs better than Kevin Reilly.....not sure about that. I could certainly name a few that are worse: Rory O'Carroll (Dublin), Mick Foley (Kildare), Neil McGee (Donegal), Michael Shields (Cork), Justin McMahon (Tyrone), Ger Cafferky (Mayo), Finian Hanley (Galway).....who else would you consider in a best full-back debate?
Meath certainly have a history of producing outstanding full-backs, although Reilly isn't in the same bracket as some of those you mentioned.
I'd strike Cafferky and Hanley off your list, but the rest would be in the debate. As would Joe McMahon, Conor Gormley, Marc O'Se, Colin Brady, Brendan Donaghy and Graeme Molloy.
Reilly would probably force his way into a Top 10 but, in my opinion, his claims to be in the top 5 are no stronger than several others.

Have a look again. Tomas reversed into Brendan Murphy, the Meath goalie, and fell over. It was never a penalty.
Jesus thats the most hilarious thing I never saw! Yeah he even had the reverse beepers on at the time. Tomas took him to the cleaners. He might do better at CHB because he is a liability at FB as he is not a good fielder.

Not a good fielder! Will you please be quiet and quit embarrassing yourself. By the way he already centre-back for Meath (and centre half-forward) - very versatile compared with the modern day Full-Back. O'Connor like the unorthordox full-forward he is, turned his back to goal, and fluked a penalty.

So he's a jack of all trades which you need to be with Meath. its all about plugging the many weaknesses in the team. A bit like Moyles a good player but was moved around so much his head was spinning and he ended up a nervous wreck. And if an unorthodox FF destroyed him as you admitted imagine what a reall FF would do.

Sad to see, but it has been coming. Loyal has been sticking his chin out on Kevin Reilly for several months now, inviting people to have a shot. Podger took aim and Loyal had little in the way of a defence.

Re: International Rules 2011
So, out of a squad of 24, the Aussies have selected only 4 players with previous IR experience and, in the words of their manager, have 'focussed on players in the 20-24 age bracket'.
Evidently, the Aussies are beyond pretending to have any interest in this charade, while are we busy pushing club championships further into the depths of winter to accommodate it. Madness.

Attendance also poor.
Re: International Rules 2011
Yeah, not good from what i hear, 22 odd thousand. It'll be even less next week after the Aussies suffered the biggest ever defeat in the series (44 points)
Me thinks this will be the end of the farce for a number of reasons, 1) the Aussies losing interest, and 2) it clashes with our club championships.

A superb result for the Irish amateurs against the ultra professional win-at-all-costs Aussies. The future of the series is ensured. What a tremendous spectacle and a great global advertisement for our games.

Fair play to you RKF, you do come out with some good ones....
FAO JS....there must be a pub open somewhere, have a few pints and don't worry about "the highlights"...

Australia 0-7-8 (29) Ireland 1-13-5 (50) Ireland win by 65 points overall.
The Aussie comentators have said that the average crowds to date have been over 40,000 when you combine the average of the Irish and Australian crowds and think that the Series is threatened unless the AFL pick their best players, which is why they think the crowds have stayed away.

Re: International Rules 2011
Excellent game of footie.
Thought it said volumes that Kevin Reilly was chosen to mark Australia's dangerman - the six foot ten giant. Reilly acquited himself well. He was probably our best player.
Other players to stand out: Stephen Cluxton, Ciaran McKeever, Tommy Walsh, Keiran Donaghy, Tadgh Kennelly, Michael Murphy, Stevie McDonnell and Leighton Glynn.
Finian Hanley and Ciaran McKeever should not have been sin-binned. In both cases, an Aussie instigated the fighting and Hanley and McKeever did whatever was necessary to defend themselves. Also incredibley that three Aussies were sin-binned in the third quarter and the Aussie television officials neglected to show it.
Series has a future after this without a doubt. Great to hear representatives from both nations speak so highly of it.

If only words spoke as loudly as actions. The Aussies let us know exactly what they thought of the series this time round, treating it with contempt. Still, their lack of professionalism and manners aside, we should be grateful that at least they have some sense.
