Brian Dooher announces his retirement
After 16 seasons, Brian Dooher has retired from inter-county football.
A tremendous worker who became a tremendous footballer and leader, and a man who is as fine a role model for young players as you will find.
Enjoy the rest Brian, no-one ever deserved it more, and thanks for all the years of wonderful memories.

Dooher has been a fantastic servant and leader for Tyrone football, He richly deserved his three all Ireland medals after certain so-called experts said he'd never win one. Hopefully his work ethic and commitment will inspire others who pull on the red and white jersey in the years to come

Man is a legend remember hearing the story of when tyrone had all the injuries and brian was coming back from injury himself he trained the lads who were coming back. The players were dying to get back to full training as Doohers was so tough! Man gave everything for his county.

A mighty man, unstopable at his best. Brian is the sort of man people write songs about and I sure hope someone is in the process of doing so.

An honest and hard working footballer with not a little skill. I'd imagine we will see him involved with Tyrone in some capacity in the near future.

funnily enough Jayo i dont think we will - i dont think he is the sort of person who will become involved in coaching/management with the county. He might do something for the club but that will be it in my opinion.

An exceptional athlete with a terrific constitution. A very rare type of player.
I've posted before that he wasn't the most natural or the most gifted of forwards, and indeed he wasn't but in the crucial moments, he was capable of anything.
He exemplified everything that was good about Tyrone in the noughties, constantly striving to set new heights, even after he and they had achieved greatness.

Re: Brian Dooher announces his retirement
a wonderful servant to Tyrone football and might possibly be held in higher esteem by many than the likes of Canavan.
Dooher was only in football for one thing and that was to win he didnt care about the publicity or the opportunities to make money when the career was over always conducted himself in the right manner and a very humble and down to earth individual. He gave his all to the cause and can walk away with his head held high.
Some say he could have walked away after 2008 but i think it said alot about him that he hung around until this year. Unfortunately time has caught up with him and i know there were many within the camp who tried to convince him to give it one more year but the truth is his body just couldn't take any more. The levels of fitness he has demonstrated have been super human at times and there is many a story about his exploits at training where he has put many younger men to shame.
He owes no one in Tyrone a thing, that said stories of his involvement in the backroom team for next year are wide of the mark
