Ó Flatharta to embark on Galway talent search
Ó Flatharta to embark on Galway talent search
Ó Flatharta intends to cast the net wide as he shapes a Galway squad for 2011
New Galway football boss Tomás Ó Flatharta intends to meet the managers of all the clubs in the county to outline his plans and to launch a search for new talent.
The former Westmeath supremo will talk about ideas in Claregalway this evening, and above all is keen to search the county for new talent, especially at junior and intermediate levels.
Speaking to The Irish independent, Ó Flatharta explained: 'We will operate an open squad throughout the year and it's important we take a good look at all the talent that is there,' he said.
'Galway is a strong traditional football county and we want to make sure that all players get a chance to bid for a place.'
Story from RTÉ Sport:

Jaysus the poor man - it'll be like looking for an oasis in the desert. Tomás - take it from me - if it ain't there you won't find it ....
He also wants to 'make sure that all players get a chance to bid for a place' .... now who would want to pay to play for Galway???

Galway will win Sam before them jessy's in Dublin Jayo.
Big Tom Hughes likely to get a run at MF and his clubmate Colin Forde at FB. Mike Farragher will get a look in up front but I'd say the number is up for most of his Corofin clubmates who have consistently failed at County level. Likely to see Eric Monaghan introduced as well. O Flaharta is playing the local media game quite well so far bringing in Sean Og(West) and Mike Mac(Tuam heartlands) and declaring all areas and all levels will be looked at. The suspicion remains however that he is just there to fill time until Kevin Walsh gets bored up in Sligo.
Keeping Meehan, Armstrong and Joyce injury free is probably more critical to Galway than unearthing any new blood.

Im reliably informed that when Westmeath won Leinster it was all down to O Flaharta and little or nothing to do with Paidí. Can someone confirm the truth of this or otherwise

Jaysus lads go aye-sy on him - sure he's after getting fierce bad news off the Doc. His blood pressure is rising faster than a guy after taking two viagra. Talk about kicking a man when he's down ....

Steady on here, it's only "results" and some opinions he's expressing. The other oul' hoor gave much the same spiel last year..Only justifying the €50 that he gleefully garnered.....Money grabbing gimps are ubiquitious in these parts....
