GAATipster ...... plodding on!
Tis wonderful to have a forum where you can speak your mind without fear of imprisonment, house arrest or a visit by the secret police whereupon you may be spirited away ne’er to be seen again. Where you can wax lyrical about the great deeds of our Gaels on the lush and sodden green soil of our land. Where you can exaggerate the minor triumphs of your county men and build them into super-heroes that even kryptonite can not dehabilitate. Where the efforts of even the club player is given prominence and eulogised on a par with the inter-county giants. Where great deeds are recalled and in the recollections become faster, better and mightier.
Tis a place where your opinion is always welcomed .. as long as it does not cross the taste line – at which point the taste police will nip it in the (taste) bud. For all criticism is fair - if it is fair criticism. Where your opinion may be lauded, derided, ridiculed or celebrated. And often in equal measure and at the same time. Where differences will arise and the same events will take on completely different interpretations depending on which set of eyes they are seen through. Where tempers will fray and keyboards will fry, in attack or defence. An inherent decency remains though … in the main.
Some of the finest exponents of the written word inhabit this small demesne – or maybe that should be domain! Some of the brightest minds, the shrewdest of observers and the sharpest of wits. There are the most passionate and knowledgeable GAA fans here. Some of the insights are wonderful – usually informative and often ultimately correct. The gossip is usually of a high order and well informed too!
Some seek to post in what may be seen as a provocative manner … but this style never fails to make the reader think if they bother to drill below the surface. Often below the alleged ‘provocation’ is an interesting and valid point. Some write the most magnificent prose on rural matters and will give a sense of rustic life only paralleled by the likes of McGahern. The cuteness and faux innocence jumps off the screen at you while your pockets are picked. Others write with the knowledge of history and the sharing of this knowledge and history is a great thing. Others write with much passion and knowledge on areas of the GAA with particular interest to them. This too is most informative. We have overseas posters who post of their trials and tribulations and give an insight into the international dimension of the GAA and its importance to the diaspora.
Alas what is lacking here is quantity. Now give me quality over quantity any time but it is disappointing that the quality – and it is of the very highest order – does not attract more numbers. Tis a mystery to me! But we’ll plod on ….

You're overly aggressive Bocerty, that's the reason....Taking the whole moderator craic over the top, banning and warning ordinary decent posters and threatning yellow cards at anyone that doesn't see it the Tyrone way .....
You should at this juncture copy RMD's more laconic style and see does it work the oracle....

Don't light an Afton near a gas leak...Off to the library (the town one) to grab a lock of books now that the evenings are lengthening...

Re: GAATipster ...... plodding on!
F/Off ....In a mildly enebriated state I've managed to lose "virtual" $500k...in the Poker room..
The War Office is not impressed, 'cos it was toward the "V-Pad" in Florida......
Will have to face North Leitrim. for the Spring break......The current Doc and his associates......
The Good Lord be/with the times Boxty and the original Doc traversed the wild terrain..the attached icon was never truer.
A truly gas man, reviled and revered in equal measure....Boxty has some nuggets from those days(and nights..)..
Probably not halycon, but memorable nonetheless....
