Come dine with me thread
Meself and the Crane were at one of Boxty's infamous dinner party's in the suburbs of Fenagh there lately and his rudimentary cooking skills left a lot to be desired to say the least. He didn't help his cause by boiling his dish in a stale Dutch Gold sauce. Luckily the Crane had packed a few ham sandwiches though so the night was not a complete loss.
At least not until said host told about the time he caught the ferry over to Mohill

Roast crown of Mofffat reared Thornhill Duckling in a cream of Dutch Gold Sauce - served with a sumpreme of Ballinamore organically reared Kumsquat.

I gave the Leitrim no mark zero out of ten.
Crane's sandwiches were pretty sweet however

You surely gave him some marks for his hosting "skills"?

Re: Come dine with me thread
I ran out of fags during the course of this epic fest. Our friend most generously proffered to roll me a few pending replenishment stocks being sourced.
I came to about 36 hours later to find the booze press empty and the chariot missing.
The Crane informed me later that he had to drive forumite to "the Shloe" where he was reunited with his own people. He borrowed a score from Crane to boot...
I am not entertaining forumites here again after this episode, so Bocerty, the invite for the Christmas is sadly withdrawn......No offence to yourself mind but.....

Re: Come dine with me thread
Come dine with me...ah yes......
Our neighbouring club, Cloone, ran one of these last Friday night and it was a rousing success. At the outset, let me state that Cloone are much like ourselves, miles away from the flashy clubhouses, gymnasium facilities and a committee of dickheads.
The Parochial hall was the venue for 25 tables of 12 at €20 per head.
25 clubmen/supporters/parishioner's hosted a table and their wives provided the starter and the dessert.
Outside caterers provided the soups and the main courses (4 choices, beef, t&h, b&c or salmon) rough figures obtained in advance.
Bottles of wine for €10 and bottles of beer/lager for €2 or 7 for €14..(being a guest of Tommy Creegan I couldn't fault this move)
All tables sponsored at €100 by outside supporters...Raffles for prizes worth in excess of €200 were ongoing.
A local wag, of whom there is no shortage, provided the Dave Lamb voiceover causing distress, mayhem and hilarity in equal measure.
We adjourned around 11.30 to Tommy Creegan's where further "draws" ensued and porter (and b&b) was available until late...
€6k in the coffers I'm hearing....
