The Dubs out of Leinster
Read an article by kerrigan of cork on the HS him saying the team learnt from their journeys to the north in the league.
I made a comment on facebook after meath hammered dublin saying it was a blessing in disguise for the dubs and a bit of competition against teams from other provinces will stand them well, they went on after beating a good tipp team to beat old foes armagh and tyrone they may not win the all ireland this year however if they do or if its next year this team will have learnt a lot from these three wins, they are young and know what it feels like to beat ulster and munster teams, i think they can beat cork however i feel kildare will win the all ireland!

Re: The Dubs out of Leinster
Alas I said all this in 2009 before they played Meath, the day Antrim played the Dubs in the hurling so we were there.
Unfortunately they beat Meath easily, got destroyed by Kerry in the quarters, while Meath took the back door to the semis.
Winning Leinster was doing Dublin no good, they needed to gain confidence by beating anyone outside of Leinster.
Agreeing with me however is not in favour at the moment on the site, so alas NSG, I doubt you will get may replies.
Personally I cannot see kildare winning the whole thing. My other cry for some years is get a dedicated squad, be super fit and have two scoring forwards and you will do ok. Kildare have all that but go all the way?
I am told that Kildare were the most impressive team at the weekend, as I no longer have RTE I missed it. Mind you the bloke who told me is an Antrim fan, marrying into Loughinisland and following Down, and he says you couldn't actually watch Gaelic football anymore as it is like rugby league without the exciting bits.
I disagreed with him, told him at the top level Gaelic football is now like basketball.
I fancy Down to beat Kildare.

Re: The Dubs out of Leinster
It's down to the S/F stage and there's really not a lot between the teams as they are drawn.
I think that Dublin have gained the momentum and belief to turn over Cork. They look very fit, focussed and un-shackled.
That said, had Tyrone tagged on 1 or2 when level at 13 all who knows what the outcome would be.
Kildare have the football in them to beat Down but I'm not so sure of their ability to start quickly enough. Down got a cushion against a rattled Kerry outfit and once the gap opened up they were able to sustain it. Somehow I think that if Kildare cure this malaise and notch a few early scores their stamina will carry them on.
The Dubs to bridge the gap over Kildare so on Final day....*
*My prediction ratio is solidly woeful....Back Kildare.

I never had a problem with you NSG.
I think nordies have a right to have heated debate with each other. It is all a part of being a nordie.
Jaysus if we were right all the time it would have all been sorted years ago.

Re: The Dubs out of Leinster
To be honest Boxtys view is hard to argue with but an alternative viewpoint for what its worth
With no insight other that history
No team that has won sam in recent history have been convicing champs in july.
In that context I think that Kildare and Down have possibly peaked too early.
So that leaves Cork and Dublin - Dublin have hit form at q/F stage just like the last two champs - Cork are stil stuttering but are still there - They were world beaters in the Q/F and S/F last year but froze against the nemises that are Kerry. The kingdom are gone and Cork no longer need to fear anyone on precedent. The big if is can they handle Brogan - I feel they have enough of an edge elsewhere.
So simple as it may seem I thinhk the AI comes down to who marks BB - ~and what is happening in the hurling with Cadogen - If he plays I go for Cork for Sam but by a whisker over the Dubs.

Re: The Dubs out of Leinster
Reasoned enough analysis there Omar but looking at Cork yesterday (festooned with youngsters as I was) the Sheepstealers pulled a point clear at 8-7 and Cork were struggling at that stage. If the Rossies weren't a Div 4 side and had more in the tank and a few more actual footballers, Cork were takeable on the day.
Cork have come on fook all since their exit to Kerry in Munster. OK, they beat Limerick who gave both them and Kerry their fill of it and Limerick are no bad team, but Cork are not improving as the summer rolls on.

Agree 100% boxty - poor stumbled, not improving, Gone backwards etc so by all logic they are Fooked
Just have a nagging feeling that now that Kerry are gone they can replicate the form they had against Donegal and Tyrone last year
Maybe not but one has to make a call and this is mine.
