RMD, Boc - what he won't forget is me giving him a hiding and taking the boots off him! That's why they're on eBay!

That will learn him an important life-lesson anyway. I wished more people cared about the education of our youth like you do Triona. I presume you will give him first refusal to buy them back from you?

Well I would but didn't I also take his pocket money so there'll be no bids from him.

i know a few Tyrone forwards who could be doing with those boots Triona any chance you could sell them to Tyrone Co Board.

Funnily enough I was talking to the brother (I presume - spitting image) of one of them Saturday night and the chairman of his club for a good half hour at least. But I couldn't make sense out of what they were saying (that'll give you a hint to who the brother is)!

I'll leave ye with this little story. I got the train home yesterday at 12. Gooch and Darran O' Sullivan were on it. Had to change in Mallow to get the Kerry connection so everyone got off at the platform. A little boy, no more than 5 or 6, ran up to Gooch with a Kerry baseball cap looking for his autograph. Gooch said he couldn't give it as he didn't have a pen. So the boy was looking disappointed etc. when Gooch reaches into his bag and gives him his boots and says, "Here, have these instead".
He really does have the mark of greatness about him. I was talking to a midlands player who marked Gooch a few years back in the Championship. I asked him what he was like on the field expecting to hear that he was a mouther or the like.
His exact words were "I'd love to be able to tell you that he's a little bollox on the pitch, it'd make the roasting he gave me easier to take but ALL that man does is play football"

There is no such thing as a weak Kerry team....weakened...but still a team that you could not have seriously claimed until after their defeat were outside the top 3 this year and even after being put out by Down yesterday I don't think there's any real reason to think that this Kerry team wouldn't be considered one of the best in the business.
I can't see Armagh becoming an attacking team anytime in the near future...their recent successes were based on defensive tactics (which I despised) combined with a never say die attitude instilled by Joe Kernan (which is what I thought made that Armagh team great). They just don't have the leaders anymore, the McGeeneys or the Marsdens or the McGranes. Armagh will have to do serious rebuilding and I wish them well. Down and Tyrone will now be seen as Ulster's big two. I still feel that Monaghan are not quite finished yet.
Kildare's result today was welcome. The manner in which they won will ensure that Down will know that beating Kerry doesn't make them champions but as is the hallmark of Down teams playing in the latter stages they will fear no one. No fear, but no complacency. It is is the ideal way to approach a game.
And let me tell you this bocerty, the Down team were on Cranfield beach at 8.30 this morning and I can tell you now they are absolutely focused on the upcoming game.
James McCartan is a shrewd operator. He barely broke a smile at the final whistle. Job done yesterday. DVDs out, what will it take to beat Kildare, onto the pitch, work on it.
actually Tyrone did in the 2003 semi final and Meath give them an even bigger beating in 2001 and went on to lose the final against Galway so Down are not on their own their.
I am not trying to take away from the achievement bluearmy i am just issuing a word of caution thats all - there were no trophies handed out yesterday and as Meath found in 2001 beating Kerry doesn't guarantee further success
That Meath win took away one of our positive records.
Kerry's biggest defeat in semis or finals before that was in 1912.

I have chuckled at many of your posts but only when made in fair manner.

I could say the same for him, I wasn't the most sober. Never am in the back of Quinns. Bought me a pint and all if I can remember correctly, which I can't.

Sure he was the spitting image of him and he told me what club he was from, and then introduced me to the club chairman, who was trying to make a good attempt at standing up straight. Then he asked me what I thought of a few Tyrone players - told him I admired S Cav and SO'N and then he asked me did I like R McMen. Well I gave him a truthful answer and he agreed with me. Then he said, "Oh yeah, and what about that Dooher lad". So I lied and told him I thought he was a great man and he was all smiles.

Re: Kerry v Down
Well back from the Kingdom last night. Was on the road on Saturday evening and hit the town of Barr na Sraide at 11.30. Skulled pits and tried to reflect on the match . No excuses Down outplayed Kerry in most departments and as I said an upcoming team with some fine players. Will win Sam next year if not this year. Kerry I am afraid have too much mileage and could not go to the well again. That said I am proud of the lads for what they gave us over the past number of years. I will not hear of criticism of any of them as they can stand with their heads held high and will be among the greats of Kerry Football . Sunday night, Declan,Killian,Kieran Donaghy(on refuge from Tralee) and Eamonn Fitzmaurice came into the pub and many(including those from other counties) gave them a round of applause. It was a nice gesture. The immediate future maybe is not bright but sure we will regroup and build again.looking forward to great semi's

I met a Tyrone lad while on a smoke break on Saturday. He played for Down at a few levels - but hated them!!!! He said he was a cousin of SO'N and also one of the Tyrone subs. Nice guy but I couldn't understand how he could dislike Down as much as he did ... anyone know who me might be. McKenna might be the sub he was related to?????
