Have i missed something Didnt Meath Cheat?
Of all the analysis I've seen it seems to make out Meath to be in the Clear. Meath like the cowards they are have latched onto the tiny minority of Louth fans who caused trouble after the game. There PR machine is in full swing with the likes of Liam Hayes out meddling nonsense. Meath cheated to win the game! no doubt about it yet they are trying to make themselves out to be angels,
I suppose what else can you expect from a pig but a grunt.

Define cheating - IMO it is breaking the rules to gain unfair advantage. Show me a game that there is no cheating.
Has Trevor Mortimer ever kicked a free from the correct position.

This is the last few seconds of a Leinster final. A team who hadnt been in a Leinster final for 53 years was winning by a point. Meath cheat to win the game leaving no time for Louth to come back into the game. In my opinion thats like comparing chalk and cheese. This isnt the first time Meath used such tactics. Being a Mayo man we are well used to Meaths savagery and immorality. The CCCC should sanction Joe Sheridan.

Technical Foul committed, happens in every game. One of the main duties of officialdom is to spot them and act accordingly.
Cheating is a deliberate act which go against all the morals of the game, and indeed sport as a whole, to intentionally give oneself an unfair advantage.

Sheridan done what most forwards would have done, can't blame him for that. He didn't make himself look good afterwards though.
As for Meath, no they did not cheat. If anyone cheated Louth it was the officials. Those Louth fans that attacked the referee have now given the county fans a reputation which they do not deserve and because of it they will be treated as the losers of the game and will have to go into the qaulifiers. Any chance of the GAA being sympathetic with Louth was ruined when the fans attacked the referee/Stewards/Players - even if it was a small amount of fans.

Any player that says they wouldn't cheat to win is either a liar or a bolox that i'd want nowhere near my team!Meath are winners and should fel no guilt whatsoever,Louth should quit moaning and get training for the qualifiers!

In fairness to Joe S - and this is something which is not mentioned as far as I can tell - he swung a foot at the ball - he did not throw it in per se, he dropped it and swung a leg at it but it went over the line. Look at it again.

Peter your sentiment is getting in the way here, the fact they havent won Leinster in 50 odd years is neither here not there and shouldnt come into it. Yes it was an awful thing to happen but it would be no less worse if it happened in match between Cork and Kerry or Tyrone and Kerry for example.
You cant blame Sheridan for what he done, the annoying part was the bullshit he came out with after the match making all sorts of silly statements.

Jayo are you serious, he was lying in the net with the ball in his hand when he threw the ball up to attempt to kick it and it was a pretty poor attempt at that

I know it wasn't a goal but I don't think he simply threw it over the line.

Im taking Bocerty's word for it. Tyrone are experts in trips and dives

It is regretful thst this thread, instead of discussing Louth v Meath, is developing into slagging counties, players and managers who are not even relevant to the theme of the thread.Sad.

Re: Have i missed something Didnt Meath Cheat?
Are Meath and Joe Sheridan to blame for the fact that Louth have not won a Leinster title since 1957? Now meath may have beaten Louth in the championship a few times in those 53 years, but sole responsibility? I doubt it.
Every game has a moment of controversy. In this game it happened at the death, and Louth's poor record was thrown in as well. However we need to have some perspective as the timing and Louth's record should not be relevant.
In the first minute Louth may have got a dodgy free leading to a score to boost their confidence, or indeed maybe Meath got a dodgy score early on to dent Louth's confidence. If so it would not merit 700 Internet threads.
No, all the hoo hah appears to be because Louth haven't won since 1957, and we cannot blame Meath on that.
Besides, Louth are STILL in the competition. Think of all the controversy before the back door? Pick any decade and I will come up with an alternative all Ireland winner for every year based on some incident.
These things happen.

I agree fully
Just thinking back to 2007
Donegal beat Armagh after half a dozen pastings on the trot
Donegal got a goal in the last minute when Cassidy had been in the square early enough to have tea and sandwiches before the ball came in.
Donegal got stuffed by Tyrone in the next round
Tyrone won Ulster v Monghan and lost to Meath in the quarters
Donegal went through qualifiers lost to Monghan who got pipped by Kerry in the Quarters.
At the time Tyrone usulally lost to Armagh in Ulster and would have gone the qualifier route versus Monaghan and then Kerry - At a quarter final stage they may well have beaten Kerry and we probably would have had a Cork v Tyrone final which Cork would have won.
Besides, Louth are STILL in the competition. Think of all the controversy before the back door? Pick any decade and I will come up with an alternative all Ireland winner for every year based on some incident.

Re: Have i missed something Didnt Meath Cheat?
Patrique how can you say that the timing of the "goal" is not relevant?? The timing is the most important thing about this incident. Had it happened at another stage in the game the result would still be questionable, less so as the clock ticks on but when it happens seconds before the final whistle it effectively changed the result from win to lose.
I also find it hard to believe that some people can take the view that you are either a cheater or you are not. We had the same thing trotted out with the Henry handball, people claiming that every player cheats. "Cheater" is as wide a term as "Criminal" You wouldn't tell someone condemning a murderer that they have no right to blame them because they are also a criminal because they were arrested for a public order offence. The timing in which JS committed the act of cheating was the difference between an assault on Louth's chances of winning Leinster and Murdering them completely, the extent of the crime is based on the result of the act and not just the act itself.

Looks like he went on a course
Its one of the upsides in being a public sector worker - They pay you to go on courses and if you pass them your pay "increments"

Absolutely true. But he could have said so afterwards rather than saying it was a "perfect goal"
