Re: Football Qualifiers Round 2
Have heard that McGrane is being asked to come back to fill in for Toner. Just read on another forum the same rumour. This is exciting stuff. Would be good to have such a high calibre player back even if he does play a small role.

No because Dublin don't leave Dublin when championship football is played
Even still, the same applies to playing Dublin in Dublin.

Im happy enough with having a good run in the qualifiers - Realistically we can achieve it as long as we don't get Cork.

Even if you do stay in Dublin, they should be getting Dublin to play in the qualifiers.

Apologies that was suppose to say
Even if you do stay in Dublin, the GAA should try getting Dublin into the qualifiers - in a corrupt way of course. The money they would make!

Not really. If Dublin go out tomorrow, they have 2 games in the qualifiers. If they win tomorrow they have one more game.
Now if Dublin were to get let's say Kildare [if they go through] that would generate some crowd. It's an extra Leinster game - but no matter who Dublin get it will draw in a big crowd.

If they win tomorrow they have one more game ....... So we're gonna lose ANOTHER quarter final!
Crowds are way down GF - even Dublin crowds. Today you will be able to buy a ticket before the game -and its a double header. 2/3 years ago that would not have been the case. Revenue from both C'ships is and will be way down ... add in the loss of soccer and rugby revenue and it ain't good news for anyone!

After the performance against Wexford - and as Bocerty said [and I agree] Gilroy looked clueless. If Wexford had a better level of fitness Dublin would have been out by now. Not to forget in ET you had your team back to 15. Dosen't look good for Dublin, and would say they will lose in the quarters if they do win Leinster. Stay in Leinster and you face a team who have played every other week and obviously a strong team. Go out of Leinster and face the prospect of playing a team in Connacht, providing you win the qualifiers - which I think Dublin would. It would be the Psychological kick in the **** they need.

If Dublin are beaten today they have one game in the qualifiers....The entire concept of these qualifiers is to guarentee al counties 2 meaningful games per annum..Provincial champions are exempted from this scenario as they would have had at least 2/3 games already...
Provincial losing s/f's face the battled hardened warriors such as Cavan or Longford.....see draw listing..

No. They have 2, there are 8 winners from the 1st round. Another 8 teams from the semi finals are then introduced. So whoever loses between Meath/Dublin will be one of the 8 losing provincial semi finalists. Then there is another 8 winners, these 8 winners then play against each other. In round 4 they get the provincial losers. Then the 4 winners from round 4 go against provincial winners.
So if Dublin do go out today they have an extra 2 games.
