An ancient, yet historical occasion is, once again, practically upon us..ie. Bonfire Night...
The custom in our parish is to light a mighty bonfire, in what's now regarded as the "West Bank" section of the village, fuel for same to be supplied by locals (dressers, cabinets, any oul' burnable sh1te you don't want) culminating in a bit of an oul' sing-song till the small hours in the local pubs(2)

The forces of the State have ignored the "Rí rá agus Rúaile Búaille" that attaches itself to this event over the years, so Boxty doubts if anything will change in 2010...

Historically, this is one of the "great, great local nights" where, if you're alive as a parishoner, you must be seen..*

*The eve of the birth of John the Bapstite.....local to anyone???
