GT Fight Night
dont know if any of you have noticed but the whole craze lately for raising money whether it be for GAA clubs or for charity in general appears to be Fight Nights. And an ever increasing number of them involve GAA players. Our very own Ricey was to have appeared in one this weekend were he was up against ex Tyrone player Chris Lawn (good to see Chris is letting the grass grow under his feet!!!). Ricey has now had to withdraw due to the Ulster Club fixtures being played this weekend instead of last.
His replacement is Armaghs Benny Tierney who has little time to brush up on the boxing skills or get down to the required weight . He's a brave man wanting to get another pasting from a Tyrone man but thats his choice and fair play to him for stepping into the breech at such short notice.
These nights seem to generate a lot of interest and the questions i would pose are :-
1) which fellow GT poster would you love to step into the ring against?
2) which GAA player would you love to come up against in a boxing ring?
3) which 2 GAA players would you like to see come up against each other in the ring?
all this talk of being bashed about the ring - i know one GAA star who would get turned on at the thought of it

Re: GT Fight Night
I think this is most unedifying and find the whole thing distasteful. Surely there are better ways to raise money? What is wrong with getting a cow to produce a good pat in a field? And what next? Sponsored parachute jumps without the chutes? Why can't they have 'famous people' play chess against each other?

By the way - so the Tyrone League Final was really a major fundraising initiative?

I took on Edward C Winsdor in the ring there one time. Didn't go very well for him I'm afraid.

Re: GT Fight Night
A club in Derry done a Sumo Wrestling County Championship one year where they invited a player from every club in the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championship to take part.
They hired those big sumo suits and done a well hyped open draw, it was great craic altogether and no-one got their heads kicked in!!!

Re: GT Fight Night
I'd like to see Tommy Walsh and Ricey in an anything goes cage fight. I'd say there would be plenty of eye gouging in that one.
