Desert Island Discs...
Thought it might be nice to have a good bit of Radio 4 descend on GT and what better than the been-running-forever classic Desert Island Discs.
Here's how it goes (you are, obviously, stranded on a desert island) :
- Cast Away's pick 8 pieces of music to take with them (their choice's usually show a review of their life/personality).
- At the end of the show they must choose which selection they regard most highly.
- They can then select one book to take with them.
- Guests also choose one luxury, which must be inanimate and of no use in escaping the island or allowing communication from outside.
Harder than you'd think.
____________________________________________________________________
For me:
1. Oasis - Wonderwall
2. The Who - Baba O'Riley
3. Just Like Heaven - The Cure
4. In My Life - The Beatles
5. This Is The One - The Stone Roses
6. The Day We Caught The Train - Ocean Colour Scene
7. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan
8. Drops of Jupiter - Train
Number 2 is most significant.
Book: U2 by U2 - it's massive and could be very practical.
Luxury: A hurley and a sliotar!

Good one Sami. I presume it's 8 individual songs not albums?

I must admit there are SO many more songs I'd like to pick - A Rainy Night In Soho is a great shout from RMD, what a song.

This is GAA fan Dougal.
Lets see, this is actually quite difficult. Cant post the videos this time, im in Uni and they have blocked youtube. I am most certainly going to miss quite a few songs/bands here. Need my MP3 player for stuff like this.
Pantera - Cowboys from hell, War nerve, Walk, Becoming and 5 minutes alone.
Lamb Of God - Walk with me in hell, Dead seeds, The Passing, Fake Messiah, Set to fail
Machine Head - Imperium, Wipe the tears, Supercharger, Hallowed be thy name cover
Sonic Syndicate - Denied, Aftermath, Enclave
I actually do not like Metallica.

Maybe we're being a bit hard here BE. Maybe we should let our hair grow all long (sorry I just realised how stupid that one is for you! ) and greasy and not wash for months and wear t-shirts with skulls and death on them and put on a few ahem ... tunes ... so loud that we can't make out the lyrics - if there are really lyrics and maybe bite off a bats head too!
Ah maybe not ........

Theyre all right. I got bored of their first album really quick but dunno about this one, it just seems too similiar but more snow patrolesque.

Yaw Mr Sami Hospital Radio DJ - you just go right ahead and play Megadeath, Poison, Def Leppard, Slayer, Anthrax, etc., and just how short that career will be ....
