Woods admits that rugby is more important to him than hurling
Central Competitions Control Committee chairman Seamus Wood has defended
the timing of the NHL final on May 2.
The Division 1 decider
between Galway and Cork is scheduled to start at 7pm to avoid a clash
with Munster's Heineken Cup semi-final against Biarritz, which is on
that afternoon.
However, the late throw-in at Semple Stadium has
angered Galway officials whose request for a change of time was rejected
earlier this week.
But Woods said: "Our supporters follow other
Irish teams in other field games and that applies not least to the
Munster rugby team.
"So in our view it was common sense that we
should take the Munster game into account when scheduling the games."
Put this on HS as well but they gone done a Jayo and completely mangled the thread title

What would you have rather happened? Schedule the game at the same time as the rugby?

Rugby is not a sport and Munster are nothing but an invented marketing strategy, albeit a highly successful one so yeah. Its sad to see the GAAs inferiority complex hasn't completely gone away and sadder still that the bigwigs who make these decisions coudn't give two flying hoots about hurling.

GAA "ran scared" on timing - McIntyre
19
April 2010
Galway hurling boss John McIntyre has once
again criticised the timing of next month's National Hurling League
final at Semple Stadium, Thurles.
Speaking after his side's 3-17
to 2-13 defeat of Cork yesterday, McIntyre says that the GAA "ran
scared" when it fixed the Division One decider for 7.00pm in order to
avoid a clash with the Heineken Cup semi-final between Munster and
Biarritz that afternoon.
"The bottom line here is that we're
thinking of the supporters, particularly parents with young children.
Seven o'clock is hard to justify, the timing of it," said McIntyre.
"The
GAA has to stand behind its own product. I think they ran scared on
this one, because I have no doubt, no matter how many people are in
Thurles in a fortnight at 7pm, there'd be twice as many if the game was
at half-three."

This is only Galway we are talking about (one of teams playing in the upcoming league final). Galway are not really a hurling force, have they got more than 3 All-Ireland hurling titles yet? Two of the titles they do have were won in consecutive years - 1988 and 1989 (presumably this means 1987 and 1988) so these titles can almost be grouped together as one.
Done my best for ya there.

Outstanding once again Sami. You should make translating Jimbo's Wexican ramblings into English your next school project, you'd be doing us all a favour(I think) as well as allowing Jimbo a means off communication to the wider world, so you'd get extra marks for the social care aspect. Guaranteed A imo
btw Galway have 4 All-Irelands and their hurling tradition p*sses all over the land of strawberry pickers
