Worst actor in the world ...

Great to note the concern for my welfare that's being expressed here....

I was bitten on the ankle on Scarborough beach yesterday by some kind of a scorpion yoke which promptly died. The BIL who is 50 tonight and from a medical background promptly uttered a diagnosis...Alcohol poisining...

Going out to Rotness Island for a few days next week..life can be tough sometimes...Keep well folks...

I think he's a fantastic actor-but I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions.

I would go with Michael Douglas, an actor who I wouldn't have a major grá for...

Hanks to me always seems to be rehearsing his "USA, ra ra ra" style for his future candidacy for the presidency. You know, gung ho while looking solemn and reserved.

There are so many terrible actors out there it's difficult to narrow it down.

All of Fair City for starters.
Keanu Reeves.

Im with you on the tom Hanks point. Yes he has two Oscars but the easiest way to win an oscar is 1) play someone who is sick or handicapped 2) play someone who is dead.

Ray Charles, Forest Gump, Philadelphia, Christy Brown, Scent of a woman, Rain Man,
Johnny cash, Jake La Motta, Shine, ?Ghandi, Idi Amin, Cuckoos Nest, As good as it gets etc etc


When a child is born the first piece of acting it does is pretend to be upset to get what it wants- the second is usually the ability to act gormless as a comeback to a playground argument. This is all that Hanks did in Forest Gump is act gormless -Any seven year old could do similar

And lets not forget - Joe vs the volcano, Da Vinci Code etc. In reality Keanui is probably worse but the fact that Hanks is more worse (sic) than people think he is makes him worse

In the case of Jake la Motta - the subject was and is still alive.

And in this case I would regard de Niros portrayal exceptional - its just a fact that
oscars are often given to actors in biographical roles

I thought Hoffman was super in Rain Man unlike his brother who just babbitted on .... Oh oh ... Lights out at eleven .... I'm an excellent driver ......

As a matter of interest re Jake la Motta and 'The Raging Bull' The lead actress in it was Kathy Moriarty who was also nominated for an Oscar. She is a first cousin of Jack O'Connors wife. Met her father about two years ago when he was home. :
