Adopt A County 2010
Just a passing idea for something which might be a bit of fun over the year (but will probably fall flat on its arse like the rest of my ideas).
Inspired by Danny Baker's 6-0-6 show over here where callers get a team drawn at random given to them to 'support/adopt/look after' for the year.
Perhaps it would be a laugh if all GT users got assigned a specific county at random to follow along with their own this year?
Perhaps.

Re: Adopt A County 2010
If it was done a fair bit of thought would have to go into it so no one ended up with a county they really don't like eg. someone from Meath ending up with Dublin or someone from Galway ending up with Mayo ect. Not a bad idea though.

you can't take anyone assigned at random by the random selection process

Re: Adopt A County 2010
Well I just wouldn't do it with most counties, basically anyone who's beaten us, so either of them would just be the easiest

Re: Adopt A County 2010
In the black North many hurling fans are lifelong supporters of "another" county as it gives them an interest in the all Ireland.
God forgive me, my first final was in 1963 and oneof the teams were wearing black and amber the same as my school.
I have been a fervent fan since, when I should be supporting galway or Wexford or someone.
Mind you, the Galway 1985-1990 team, I had a bit of a grá for them

Re: Adopt A County 2010
I only liked them because they were called Rangers.
First saw them in Ulster's "Top Four" tournament organised by St John's Belfast in the early-mid 60s.
And The johnnies tonked Cross every year, and I don't like the Johnnies.
Mind you, the Johnnies won this every year. Cross's main man was tom McCreash at full back then.

Corner Forward - we have adopted the Cavan footballers - see thread on GAA football. I would obviously second your Dub hurlers suggestion though - and a good few here (moi included) are partial to the Banner hurlers too!
