Boxty - I know this was discussed at the entrails of a previous thread but I'd like
to know more - so here is its own thread.

Regarding the location - are they going to knock down exisiting structures (stand etc) at PMD? Why are you against it - is it cos of the sheer size or location? On location again it strikes me that its a fine location - nationally! - but in terms of a Leitrim location its barely out of Longford and will mean a lot of travelling for north Leitrim folk.

This development has commenced on lands acquired, adjacent to Annaduff's existing pitch (Stanley Cox Park) on the left hand side of the main road- Dromod-Carrick - about 2 miles west of Dromod. Jayo, this has nothing to do with the completed development at Pairc Séan but is envisaged as a "center of excellence for the county".
Short of having it situated where we meet the ocean at Tullaghan you couldn't have found a more unsuitable location.

Unusually, words fail me as regards the folly being embarked upon here. Had the Co.Board disposed of some unknown asset(s) in the boom times for €10bn, by all means spend the money on an infrastructural white elephant, but surely to Christ the best and most suitable location in the county is in, or adjacent to, Drumshanbo. Shane McGettigan Park, (Allen Gaels - Drumshanbo) isn't more than 25/28 miles from any other club ground in the county but it would appear that the proliferation of so called "stronger clubs" are located in the south of the county. To put the mockers on that Glencar-Manor have won the last 2 c/f's.
We have 28 clubs in all and the following North Leitrim clubs are somewhat isolated, distance-wise from the rest: Glencar-Manor, Melvin Gaels, Glenfarne-Kiltyclogher, St.Osnatt's, Dromahair and Drumkeeran. The 1st. two are senior.

Some folk say I'm gone too old and set in my ways, paranoid about anything novel or progressive, but this caper is sure to end in a vale, nay, a tsunami of tears for all concerned......Madness being perpetrated by madmen.... 100% percent in agreement.
Drumshanbo would have been the ideal location. Forty minutes from kinlough. Probably another forty to carrigallen.
