Re: Grand National 2010
Aintree Grand National this Saturday. Can't believe Mon Mome is 10/1 with 11-7 on his back. Can't see him winning with that weight. Its hard to pick a winner out of the field and there is at least 10 runners with a good chance of winning.

Re: Grand National 2010
i think the winner will come from any one of Big fella thanks, Snowy Morning or state of Play. All have got round before, carrying nice weights and are ideal age. For a small eachway Ellersie George (usually one placed at around 100-1)

He's 10/1 because they made the mistake of peaking him a month early, hence his GC perrormance. If however he manages to maintain that level of form and manages to avoid trouble in running that might yet be the best odds on anything next Sat. He'll love the ground and clearly likes Aintree and the fences so definitely would not be ruling him out.

Re: Grand National 2010
Mon Mome is a good horse but I reckon at 11-7 the ground wouldn't want to be soft for him to place. Not since Red Rum has a horse won with a heavier weight than that.

Re: Grand National 2010
True Clash but I wouldn't want to be laying it all the same. Im inclining towards Tricky Trickster. If you forgive his festival performance then he ticks all the right boxes.

Re: Grand National 2010
Paddy Flood fell off Schlinders Hunt today and misses the ride on Vic Venturi.
Bad news for Flood but he'll have many great days ahead of him, suspect Dickie Johnson or Chocolate Thornton will come in for the ride now.

Re: Grand National 2010
I've backed Tricky Trickster and Ballyholland.
Both selections require a little faith the latter needs to prove he gets the trip but has a sound chance if he does whilst the former needs to be forgiven a very lacklustre performance in the Gold cup but otherwise has always had the look of a National winner albeit is still quite young.
Couple of small 'saver' bets on Black Apalachi and Snowy Morning both solid enough types for a race like this.

Think it might be the latter as he was under orders. Loyal or Moss may know better.

When I was watching it I was just thinking it would have been a classic moment for the jockey to light up a Hamlet cigar!
