Very disappointing that people have not given us the low down on their teams before the weekend. Meath Armagh should be tight - any chance of Loyal and Samin giving obs - usually you can't stop them. Tyrone heads any word on your camp? RMD - Donegal? Johnnos? Mossbags? Swinny - others??

Jayo im sick of seeing henrys name on the Dublin starting 15 they haven't a clue where to play him hes being ripped apart in the big games for the last 3 years.I would like to see philly full back not sure about the O'carrolls jury out on them at the moment..Ross has being tried at midfield it hasn't happend for him there and probably won't..I like flynn think he works hard for the team as does blaine kelly..Looking forward to seeing how mccauley gets on at no 11 its a position we need to fill badly..Don't think were going to learn a lot from this match anyway.J i would like to see giller have his team settled by the 4th match and finish the league with the team he hopes will start the championship barring injurys.

Re: Tipster form guide
Aidan O'Shea is playing might stuff for Mayo, so too is Higgins. Dillon and Mortimer won't be back til next month, Barry Moran is injured, as well as Kilcoyne and Cunniffe. However, they have a rich crop of players, with the likes of Trevor Mortimer on their side and McGarrity too. Mark Ronaldson is really cementing his place on the side as well.
Mayo are a very promising team for the League and I've put them down as my predicted winners for Sunday. Should be a great game! I'm heading up to McHale, I'm in the new stand too-very comfortable!

Lean times ahead for Mayo i'm afraid, We will struggle for a mid table finish in the League also. My Prediction for Division 1 is as follows
1. Galway
2. Cork
3. Dublin
4. Kerry
5. Derry
6. Tyrone
7. Mayo
8. Monaghan
I hope i am wrong about No. 7 but away games against Kerry, Cork, Tyrone and Derry will be really difficult. Galway will put a big effort into the National league in order to impress big Joe.
Connacht: Galway (Joe Kernan might add some steel to the "Fancy dans")
Ulster: Derry (Finally break the Tyrone/Armagh Strangle hold)
Leinster: Dublin (Still by far and away the best team in Leinster)
Munster: Kerry (simply its Kerry's turn)
All Ireland: Dublin (Well they have to win it some time)
By the way i spent ages writing a post about the the great Peter Solan i cant find it any where. Was it deleted? took me an age to write.

If RMD was online it was probably deleted Peter. Welcome to the forum, you've immediatly gone straight in as the No 1 Mayo poster with the above post.
One thing about Galway though is whether Big Joe himself will be targeting the league. Yes players will be all out to impress him in the league but I'd imagine the big mon himself only has his eyes on the bigger picture.

Peter - it would not have been deleted. What can happen is that if someone posts the same time as you and you don't click on save - its gone! It has happened me loads of times. Also sometimes if you are doing a long post (and I do all the time!! ) - your system can let you down and you lose it - this is head wrecking!!! What I have learned to do is copy before I press enter and if the system goes down you still have the post to paste!
Would love to read about Mr Solan - have a go again!

Re: Tipster form guide
Really dont have much of an opinion for Armagh v meath match. Armagh have never paid much attention to the league, of course the players will always be trying to win, at the minute i do not know how fit the Armagh players are, first competitive game etc. Armagh always struggle against MEath, beat them last year but it has not happened too often. We could win but to be honest i doubt it, either way i will not be reading too much into it, Armagh are always hot and cold in the league if we win we could go out and get beat by some useless team, on the other hand if we get beat we could go out and hammer one of the so-called bigger teams. i would say meath by a few points

Leitrim
I wish I shared boxty's optimism.
I'd keep them off the accumulator this weekend.
Seen the team there to start sunday. No midfield. Forward line sees the return of Colin Regan to NFL. Michael Foley Centre and Phiily McGuinness other wing. Full forward line David O'Connor, James Glancy, Philip Howard.
Waterford aren't a bad price

Tyrone
hard to know what to make of Tyrone this year to be honest - the personnel have not changed too much from last year. Collie Holmes is gone and Colly McCullagh retired only to make a comeback hours later. A few of the fringe players have opted out but all in all we are not that much different than last year except of course that some of our elder statesmen are a year older.
The team for tonights game (which i am missing incidentally due to babysitting duties )
shows two debutants Kyle Coney and Ronan McNabb. Coneys rise has been the subject of great interest - no doubt he can put a ball on a sixpence but the big question is will he get the necessary time afforded to him to pick of these passes.
McNabb is a different prospect - hard as f**king nails for one so young - he was on the minor team with Coney in 2008. I have no doubt that barring injury this guy will be one of the mainstays of the Tyrone team for years to come a good ball player withe the mental strength to go with it.
As for what 2010 holds for us I cant really say we have the squad to make a big impact and there seems to be a more serious approach to the league this year. Harte and Cavanagh appear to have an understanding that while they may not be the biggest of buddies they are there for the same reason.
The question is are we going the scenic route or are we looking to win Ulster - i have afeeling Harte will blood a few young guys during the league by giving them serious game time but i think the success or otherwise of our season rests heavily on the shoulders of one man - Brian McGuigan - there is no doubt we play our best football when he is on the park so lets hope he stays free from injury.

Wilkinson!!!! Regan played well when he came on last Sunday, Philly Mac, despite being a Mohillian, will always give it all....I couldn't fault the Manor Glancy, O'Connor has the breeding, physique and skills for the future but Howard?????
Banker bet...if by 2.........0-11 - 1-06.

Will Leitrim be as bad this weekend? Can Sligo bounce back? Will Derry undo Dublin's good start? Will Cork get revenge over Kerry? Will Mayo signal their intent by defeating Tyrone? What will Cavan win by this weekend?

Derry and Mayo are as likely to go out this weekend and play no football at all.
Mayo have always made for a tough game when we play them - will they get the same room afforded to them by Galway, do they travel well - time will tell. As for Tyrone its hard to see them being as bad as they were against Derry - as long as Colm Cavanagh is on the bench (and not on the field)we have a chance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont remember JS to be honest - last player i remember giving Gormley a roasting was Michael Meehan of Galway in the league 2 years ago - give him a torrid time that day.
I'd expect O'Shea to get a calling card early on Sunday if what you say is accurate - Gormley is not the sort of man you do that to twice............
Having said that O' Shea is a big lad - though he appears to have lost a yard or two of pace since joining the senior ranks - perhaps a weight program is to blame

O'Shea is a class act for his age, I was at the Connacht final last year and thought he was immense. Not only his ability to win ball and score but his vision and willingness to lay off to his team mates. Serious maturity for a lad only out of minor. Id have him right up there with Coney as regards promising young players. I guess we'll see what happens this weekend! Maybe he's taken a leaf out of Tyrone 08's book, he has a beard that Moses would put Joe McMahon to shame..
