Just following on the knee injury theme from Mark Davaren, Just heard that Conor Gormley will be out for at least six weeks having damaged his medial knee ligament. The injury actually occurred on Tuesday evening in a club match against my own Club. I think this is a major blow for Tyrone and makes the first round tussle with Antrim a different proposition altogether as our defence is Cat at the minute.

No cull? Andrews, Griffin, Cullen, Magee, Connolly, Keaney, Sherlock - hard to see any of them starting againt Wexford. Bastick and Cahill not regulars this year so far either, but both getting closer to the side now. I'd say losing half your outfield players is a cull.
Ok Mullins, let's hear who you think will be on the Dublin side to play Wexford. I've already said how I think it will look.

mugsy - with all due respect Gormley has looked quite sluggish (he was never blessed with lightning speed) of late and was totally exposed on Sunday against Dublin, it was strange to leave him on Brogan for so long.
It might seem strange to say it but i would play Gormley at full forward were i reckon he could still do a job for the team. Kerry Cork and Dublin don't convince me that they have a great full back line and we may be able to really hurt them with a big target man who can win ball, Gormley has useful right foot on him too!!!!!
I would keep Joe at full back and bring Justin further out the field to CHB were his engine and athleticism could suit the team better.

Definitely agree with that Mugsy. Gormley has been Tyrone's most important defender in the last decade, and is still worth his place in the side. Major blow. I just hope Mickey moves Justy to CHB, or else give Sean O'Neill his chance to see what he can do there. I guess a lot will depend on whether Joey is fit to play at full-back, after going off injured against Dublin. If he isn't, then Justy will probably have to stay at No.3.

Re: Gaelic County teams 2010
I know what you are saying Boc, but no-one would have marked Borgan getting that ball last Sunday. There was no pressure on the ball going in to the Dublin full-forward line, and Gormley was hung out to dry a bit.
Having said that, I do agree that he is probably too slow now for the marking jobs that Mickey used to assign him, but I'd still like to see himat CHB, as his strength is much needed. You could even play him just in front of the full-back, and pick 2 attacking wing-halfs, like O'Neill and maybe even Justy. His absence just forces our hand a bit and means that Joe McM will have to play in defence, when we could be doing with him at wing-forward.

Re: Gaelic County teams 2010
I wouldn't agree with that at all Boc - Are you trying to make a Raymond Munroe out of him??? lol
I am a big fan of Gormley. He has always been the man sent to do on occasion two jobs in the big matches.
1. Mark the best opposing forward and
2. stop any other forward coming through.
He is the only stopping defender we have at present really. The McMahon's are both lovely footballers but don't have the Strength that Gormley posseses.
I thought that on Sunday Gormley should have started on Brogan. Harte waited too long and Bernard had about four points scored before Gormley was sent in to Stifle his threat. A case of closing the stable door when the horse had clearly bolted. Had Gormley been on him from the start Brogan's confidence may not have been as high as it clearly was when he eventually was moved. But just my opinion Boc, He is a neighbour afterall.

Mugsy - i've always admired him too a straight talking no frills no ego - made the hard things look easy and was undoutedly our best defender over the course of the last number of years - you could put him anywhere and you knew he would do a job. But the forwards coming through now are all speed merchants and a fair bit younger and Gormley can be made look very slow. I agree Brogan was on fire and the problem was we didnt stop the ball into him but a few years ago Gormley would have been fit for him anyway regardless of the ball in.

Flynn Alan Brogan Keaney
13 14 15
Andrews Bernard Brogan Kevin Mcmenamin
Tc this would be my guess but i could me a million miles away -We have a lot of players with the same ability so its hard to pick a team-I was told the players that gilroy didn't use in the league are still a big part of his plans for the summer..

Re: Gaelic County teams 2010
I'd say you'd be close with that Mullins. although I'd guess he'll stick with Henry & Hubbard instead of Keaney & Andrews. I like Keaney as a player, and would be more worried about facing him than the other 2, but he doesnt put in the work that Hubbard, for instance, does.
In defence, Brennan could get a reprieve, but could just as easily be Bastick, or even the other O'Carroll with McMahon moving out.

Tc we need keaney in the team as i believe hes a quality player and offers more to the team-but like you said he doesn't track back enough...As for hubbard my honest opinion is he is not good enough to be an inter county player.....Henry looks a busy player but i have watched him ripped apart in the big matchs.......Brennan has more to offer the team than bastick both are dangerous players to have on the pitch for the wrong reasons...But Brennan would bring more to the table.......

I think you may have 12/15 there mullins. I agree re Keaney - h justs needs attitude adjusting (kick up the ****!). I would like to see us go for 6 Leinsters - I don't buy into the theory that winning Leinster is bad at all.
