Re: World Cup Draw
France got a really soft group. I hope a few decisions go against them though when they are playing South Africa.

Re: World Cup Draw
I fancy Germany might struggle to get out of their group, Serbia and Ghana are looking pretty good.
From my very rudimentary calculations I think the wider draw looks good for England too, I don't think they'll meet either Spain or Brazil until the semi of the final, 'IF' of course they get that far.
Personally I'm throwing my lot in with them and Slovenia, if I can bring myself to watch it that is, I may yet ignore the whole thing as the rage still rises when I hear the words Henry or France!!!

Re: World Cup Draw
England should be nailed on to reach the semis at least with that draw, it's then when we'll see if they've the bottle for any more. Spain in a handy group aswell, favourites now and it would be great to see them do it.

Re: World Cup Draw
Not that I give a rat's ass about it, I'm going to do a novena for Germany. While you can all dissect and analyse the "qualities" of the contestants, I'll be remembering all the many EEC grants and handouts that were "nodded through" to us when big ol' Helmut Kohl was the Táoiseach over there. A decent and generous man was Helmut, especially when it wasn't his own money.
Shure wasn't it the bould Helmut himself that gave poor oul' Albert the €7.6bn back in the days, after Albert singing "My native town Drumlish" 6 or 7 times for him.
Germannny, Germannny.....and thanks for everything Helmut..

Upon reflection, I'm unable to allow this nomination stand, because of the criteria established at the outset.
Nominate, Substantiate, Canvass......While deserving and warrented, not a candidate currently.....

Re: World Cup Draw
you're right, England have got a very kind draw. They should win their group outright with little effort at all really and they do avoid Spain, Brazil and a few other big teams until the semi-finals. Not sure but I think if they do win their group, in the 2nd round they will play the runner-up of Germany's group - which may well be Germany...
