AFL Grand Final 2009 - Dare I Dream?!?!?!
Well folks, i've been dreaming of this game all week, my beloved St Kilda are in the AFL Grand Final tomorrow, for the first time since 1997 and going for their first Premiership since 1966!! I would have been there if i could've afforded it but £1750 for a flight was just a bit too much, sorry Mr Branson!!!
I've been supporting them since i was a child (due to Aussie family that got me into the sport), for a total of 25 years, from a time when they were racking up record low scores and points totals (as the club logo says, strength through loyalty) and tomorrow morning i'll get up at 4-30am, wander into the earlyhouse showing the game in hope and i must admit expectation!!!!
This will be the first time i'll have seen an Aussie Rules Grand Final and have had an active interest, although i was supporting the West Coast Eagles when they lost to Sydney by 1 point and the following year when they beat them by 1 point (but that's 'cos i had a couple of mates playing for them)
If they win you won't hear from me this week as the earlyhouse will turn into a very latehouse and i'll definately have my first drink in years!!!!
No doubt there will be a few Aussie Rules bashers comment on this, but for me the AFL Grand Final is one of the best sporting events in the world, with the MCG rammed to capacity of 100,000. So good luck to Nick Riewoldt's Army, hopefully i won't remember the next week!!!!!

If it's any consolation BE Geelong is a sh*thole of a place from what I remember. St Kilda was nice though. No? I didn't think it would!

Thanks for trying 6inarow and you are indeed right, Geelong is a sh1te-tip, but in the words of a Dublin fan "Whats another year?" Could've won it, should've won it but in the end we kicked ourselves out of it by missing too many 'easy' 6 pointers!
And to top it all off, the club lost in the Championship Semi-final replay y'day! Were robbed in the first game by terrible refereeing but should've been hammered out of sight in the replay and were very lucky to keep the damage down to 3 points. Had 6 players out injured from the first match too, but for my views......please see above quote!
