Gear Grinder of the Year....The Grand Final...
Gear Grinder of the Year....The Grand Final...
Down to the last 4 then...First past the post 24 hours from now shall be declared the winner.
Management are currently preparing congratulatory speeches for all 4 and a special trophy has been commissioned.
Can somebody volunteer to amend the wikipedia page of the winner to mark this event? Technically beyond me, I'm afraid..

Re: Gear Grinder of the Year....The Grand Final...
Some of my hot favs went out in the semi - leaving me a simple choice in this final. I know canvassing will disqualify so will not be divulging my vote in true secret ballot tradition. However if my selection wins I will host a party for GT's first birthday with free gargle and nosh and a lap dance for the straight guys - both of them. So please vote for the guy I dislike most (funny no girls here btw!). Even if you do buy the Sunday Indo and like the Apprentice after show....

Shortarse yet to get off the mark ......I don't mind you canvassing at all JC but attempting to buy votes with promises of free gargle, kebabs and lap-dancers is a bitéén Bertie-esque don't you think...
I'm expecting a Michéal Ring type blast from Essie to galvanise the voters toward the Mayo candidate....

Ah FFS lads. Who the hell is voting for Louis when that gimp from Cork is on the list. Sometimes I despair.

Time to start preparing a suitable entry Sami if you may.
Perhaps the imprimatur of a Moderator might be required before dashing to wiki!!!!
But as Seamus Darby once said to himself? "it's never over till it's finally over" (or something to that effect)...

Guys, ye're not honestly going to let Louis Walsh win this are ye? I mean, I'm not biased or anything-I don't have a real grá for him at all, but what about Keano?? One of the most annoying and interfering man in the history of Irish soccer!
Louis Walsh is a...ahem...good man, maybe a little misguided.........
And you're forgetting one major plus-he's from Mayo!
Actually, forget it, Louis Walsh is an irritating, impetuous man, and I doubt he's even from Mayo. More likely he was born in Galway-he just wants to give Mayo a bad name:evil:

It will take a Thierry Henry like intervention to thwart Walsh at this stage....

Re: Gear Grinder of the Year....The Grand Final...
So there it is folks, the first award of the new decade goes to Mayo's own Louis Walsh.....
Well done Louis, you clearly annoyed enough people to grab the award...
I'm sure Louis will, in time, grasp the enormity of the event and may in fact, sign on to GAATipster and become a much loved and admired poster.
Thanks to all who took the time and effort to post, nominate, canvass and vote in this inaugural competition.
Will the forum moderators carry this forward by contacting the winner or even posting a fitting line on his wiki page??
"Winner of an auspicious award on that popular Irish forum GAATipster in 2010" has a pleasant ring to it....

Well done Boxty on a super competition - run without any rigging.
I am very disappointed with the result however but sure that happens after most elections, referenda etc ....
Brendan O'Connor has gotta be the ................. ah let it go JC.

The vote-buying exercise perpetrated by yourself kind of backfired!!!
It's an indication of how we have grown as a nation that we can now see (15 years too late) that this carry-on is not to be tolerated. A triumph for democracy if there was ever one....
