Sami what about Johnson, probably Liverpool's best player to date. At least Aurelio is fit again.

Nope!! Sorry...
Liverpool were terrible last night weren't they, not taking away from Fiorentina though they were excellent! Wolfsburg seem to be giving United a hard time tonight. Lucas is a sack of shite I am sure that if Rafa insists on playing him all season it will be the reason of Liverpool's downfall (or one of them anyway)!! When Aqualani is fit I am sure we will see the end of Lucas, I hope anyway!

1-1 each. good game. certainly wouldnt say utd are brutal. bit shakey in defence could have scored four or five by now.

2-1 to utd, by no means a great performance but i would say they deserve to be ahead

Amazing. United beat the German champs, and an Italian team win at home against Liverpool and we are shocked.
GERMANY and ITALY. Look at their pedigree.
Mind you, as the money leaves the premiership, give it a few years and Spain and Italy will dominate again.

I am absolutely amazed with the global recession that we have not had a meltdown in the Premiership. If ever there was an overpriced commodity football shares are it. I disagree that English football will fall behind - the TV money here is the key. But if a (big) Premiership club got into difficulty and there was a drop in share value the ripple effect could be catastrophic - and how I'd laugh! Oh to see players earn what the great Johnny Haynes once earned - £100 per week!

Jayo i'd say most of the clubs are working overtime to try and paper over the cracks that are appearing in the budgets, it will be interesting to see the end of year financial reports this year for a lot of clubs.
Though in fairness attendances don't appear to be down in any significant way which is totally surprising.

Re: Champions League 09/10
Aye Boc - but attendances pay for about three players wages per week!! The likes of United are approx £700m Stg in debt. The problem will arise if confidence goes and share prices slump.
Bank of Ireland shares were 'valued' over €18 in Feb 2007 - in March 2009 they were available for 12.5 CENT!!! If something like this happened in the Premiership then Accrington Stanley could well win the Chanpionship again!

Re: Champions League 09/10
I said at the start of the season that Portsmouth would go down due to lack of money, and West Ham would go out of football.
I knew it was bad, but even Liverpool are having difficulties money wise.
And some idiots think we could have a professional GAA.

Re: Champions League 09/10
lets see what Liverpool can muster tonight then. Away to on-form Lyon, Torres playing with a hernia, Gerrard out...doesn't look too good. If we lose this we'd be a s good as out of Europe and Rafa would be as good as out as well...

Clash, I think it was actually the Liverpool chairman who said he'd like to see Benitez back at Valencia ....

Re: Champions League 09/10
the end of the road for Liverpool then. But fear not for we are now in the *cough* Europa League!
disappointing from Liverpool not to get further in Europe to be honest, although it is a weak team with only a few good players, perhaps it really is time to get rid of Benitez.

The Ipswich Town manager, whose name escapes me, is rumoured to be on the verge of taking over from this portly, smig-sporting spoofer.
