Who will be Victorious?
Galway vs Cork
Difficult to know what Cork are like as all we are going on is a second half display against Tipp. Galway will want revenge for last year but it won't be easy.

Re: Galway vs Cork
really think this could be galways year, if any team is going to beat kilkenny i think it will be galway. they looked very good against clare and i think they will be far too strong for cork.
cork are about 3 months behind because of the strikes and i cant see them upping their enough to beat a galway side on a high. ofcourse the biggest problem with galway has allways been consistency and they will have to show that is a thing of the past if they are to beat cork and go on. i think though that they have that now and will win by a couple of points

Cadogan to finally end the Joe is greatest ever myth, Tom and Jerry to dominate midfield, Naughtan to break the 100m world record, Cork by 12.

loyal what has Joe canning done to you? did he steal your girlfriend? you seem to have a huge dislike for him.

Re: Galway vs Cork
I think Naughton was a sub against Tipp so he might not start, I would be more worried about Aisake and Horgan although Naughton is a good player. We need to be more clinical and cannot afford the same amount of wides as in the Clare match. Revenge would be sweet against Cork.

If Canning - the ugly little ************* - stole any girlfriend of mine, then I think I'd just give up with women.
He hasn't done anything to me, he is in the same bracket as Noel McGrath, both excellent young talents with the hurling world at their feet. But one is compared to Ring, Mackey, Carey, Meagher, etc, time and time again, the other, well I bet most on here wouldn't even know who McGrath plays for. Canning is so over-rated, its funny.

i would say most on here knows who mcgrath plays for but you can not deny that canning is one of the best players in hurling AT THE MOMENT?

Re: Galway vs Cork
Canning was playing senior hurling at the age of 14-15 and at the age of 16 was finishing top scorer in the county championship. His vision is a lot better than McGraths and tries to bring people into play rather than getting his own scores. Yesterday he drove a ball from inside his own 21 all the way down to the other 21 to Gantly which resulted in a Niall Healy goal. We are still yet to see the best of Joe Canning at intercounty level.

Re: Galway vs Cork
Galway have the players to be the 2nd best team in the country, and Kilkenny's real challengers.
So far, they do not have the set up.
Galway should win, but how many times have we said that?

Ya wing back from the last day Adrian Cullinane gone for the year.
Is Ben o connor out as well - he would be a massive loss to Cork.
Can only see one result and it is Cork to win. Cork v Cats All Ireland this year.

O' Connor is struggling with a hamstring injury - not an injury to be taking risks with so i'd say his involvement would be doubtful - though it could just be mind games

Re: Galway vs Cork
Fancy Cork, I think they would love to get a crack at the cats again after this years league game. As much as i always had a soft spot for Galway, im not sure where they are headed again. I as impressed with the midfield against clare, particularly hines but will be interesting to see how they do at the weekend. Although they did beat clare with canning well below his best, lets hope its a good game, would be happy with a draw!!

"E tan, e epi tan".
The Galwegien gladiotars have been instructed thus in advance of their epic voyage to Thurles this coming Saturday. After their heroic marches on Tullamore and Ennis there is but one clear refrain in their noble western hearts:
Defeat is not an option

Re: Galway vs Cork
Galways options for Cullinane:
1) Straight swap with Mahon coming in for Cullinane. Mahon is rather awkward and slow and maybe caught out against Cork. Then if its not working move Lynch to wing back and bring in Farragher to play midfield.
or
2) Move Lynch to wing back and bring in Farragher into the midfield.

I'd say there is going to be plenty of reds at this one, probably outnumbering Galway. Must give them plenty of stick.

Re: Galway vs Cork
Joe Canning will do well against Cork but won't destroy Cadogan like he did the rock but the other forward like Healy and Cullinane should chip in and John Lee will dominate at centre back for Galway unlike when he was suffering with the flu last year.It will be an open game of hurling with plenty of scores but Galway should have a few points to spare in the end

Re: Galway vs Cork
I believe that Galway will win this, they have that bit of experience now. Last year in this fixture i think Joe Canning scored everything bar a few on the galway score board this year he is being singled out but this is bringing in the other power house forwards they have such as Niall Healy and Damian Hayes.
For me it has to be Galway Cork still have a bit too much dead wood hanging around that lack the killer hunger required to win an all ireland in the next two or three years but if they find it i wouldnt like to be in the way no matter if i was Tipp, Galway or Kilkenny.

Re: Galway vs Cork
Galway by four or five I reckon.....Cyrill Donnellan is playing very well at the moment for us and is taking a nice chunk of the scoring burden. Canning has been quiet enough from play but is still scoring 7 or 8 points per game and setting up chances for others including the goal against Clare. John Lee and Kavanagh are giving a really strong centre to the team, along with midfield, who I think should be left as they are against Cork. I dont think Mahon is the right replacement for Culliane, too slow....we should bring in defender and not mess up the whole stabililty of positions just because of one injury e.g. being in Coen maybe.
Galway to win a tough game, Canning to plant a bullet of a puck between the eyes of LoyalToTheRoyal.

Re: Galway vs Cork
The spine of Galways team has really been the difference this year with Callanan in goals, Kavanagh, Lee, Lynch and Hynes in MF, Donnellan and Joe all excelling. Even if we'd need to bulk it up even more we could always bring Chunky into centre forward and move Donnellan to the wing. Chunky really looked up for it when brought on against Clare and could lend a bit of muscle to the half forward line if required

Not for the first time, Mossbags proves he is clueless when it comes to the small ball game. It'll be interesting to see how the duel fares out between Canning and Cadogan. The heir to Diarmuid O'Sullivan up against the young pretender who's played one half decent championship match in his whole career. I tend to agree with Ger Loughnane though - Joe is suffering from second season syndrome. That 2-12 last year came too early in his career. Cadogan won't let him touch the ball.
